“Stay Elsewhere”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

I stayed at this hotel for two nights and wish I had stayed elsewhere.
The hotel was in a good location and was in easy walking distance to attractions in both the old town and new town. It is also very handy for anybody traveling by train as it is just a few minutes walk from Waverley train station. The staff were pleasant enough, most of the time.

However, the carpets in both hallways and room was dirty. When arriving in the bathroom the shower was rusted around the door and there were dark hairs on the bathroom shower and floor that did not belong to the guests who just checked into the room. The toilet rarely flushed, and when did made a terrible loud noise. The hair dryer in the room did not seem safe , smelt of burning when in use and made ones whole arm vibrate in a way that did not seem safe. The rooms are not soundproof. When in the room you could here the entire conversation of the people in the room to one side, and from behind the bed the same including their alarm clocks going off and every use of the bathroom. On the last night at the hotel when turning on the bathroom light a safety switch blew and the room had no power at 1130pm at night. I contacted reception and shortly after heard noise outside the room, opened the door to find a staff member loudly hitting up the roof covering outside looking for the safety switch. They believed they fixed it, and walked away without informing me. They had not fixed it and had to be told this.

Also, no room service, (collect it yourself tray service), rooms very cold and no free wifi.

My advice is stay somewhere else where the hotel is very clean and properly functioning.

Spent two nights here with my wife. Good location, excellent room, nice breakfast, friendly staff so why not a five? The hotel bar did not have any scottish beer on draught. An internet connection will cost you ten pounds for twenty four hours or five for an hour. I think Jurys should realise wifi connection is now required by most travellers not just as some form of entertainment and should be included in the price.

Oh yes if your room feels a bit chilly check the thermostat on your radiator I found ours to be turned off.

Room Tip: Room 619 was quiet.

Nice hotel in Edinburgh. Fab location, Just along from train station, but no noise. Practically on the Royal mile, just up a few steps and just across the bridge from princess street, everywhere that you would want to be within Edinburgh only max 5 Min walk away.
Not luxurious, cheap and cheerful. Very standard travel lodge style 3 star hotel. Clean and all you would need for city break style hotel.
Stayed bed and breakfast, nice breakfast, full english or selection of cerals, fruit, yogurt, toast etc. Very nice breakfast, No reason to complain.
Would be perfect for City breaks, groups of friends, families or solo. Very happy with my stay at this hotel and would stay again.

Freezing cold, charmless staff. You'd be better off on a local park bench. I stayed on a night when the mercury was at -5. Advised staff that heating wasn't working and, at first feigned disinterest but eventually sent heater for my room.

Room Tip: One in another hotel, with heating.

When arriving in Edinburgh we go a bus right outside the airport to our hotel which took about 30mins & stoped about a 3 min walk from Jurys Inn.
My mum & I stayed in Jurys Inn for 3 nights in Feb of last year.
Hotel was warm, very clean, staff very friendly & helpful.
Behind our hotel was the Royal Mile which was lovely at night for drinks. Also a 5min walk across the bridge from Prince's street which was great for shopping.
There is also a sightseeing bus which stops outside the hotel & on the bright, it visits many tourist attractions.
I would defo recomend this hotel & would go back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay so much here from 31st December 2012, we were supposed to check out on 2nd January 2013 but stayed until 3rd January 2013. Hotel is in easy reach of the old town, Waverley Station, Princess Street and Castle. The rooms are nice and clean and very spacious. There is disabled parking at the rear of the building. We would stay again.

This hotel is in a fantastic location close to the train station and within walking distance to shops, cinemas, theatres etc. The staff are very friendly. The room, which was warm and comfortable, had a terrific view across the city. Very good value but the breakfast was disapointing.
