We stayed in this hotel for a weekend in February '08. Arrived very early in the morning and were able to drop off bags at the Hotel until our room was ready. This Hotel is very central to all the tourist attractions - Royal Mile, Princess St. Waverley station. Staff here are efficient and friendly. What a buautiful city to visit. It's so easy to drop back during the day. Good bar and good food. Breakfast till 11 at weekends, so no rushing to meet the 10 o'clock deadline.

Some good views of Arthurs Seat and Calton Hill on higher floors.

No problem recommending this Hotel.

I stayed here for 2 nights with 3 friends. My main criticism of the hotel is how noisy it is (noise from outside and inside). Our room was at the back of the hotel. There are some steps at the back of the hotel that lead to the Royal Mile. This is very handy, but there was a steady stream of drunk, noisy people (many of them hotel guests) who used these steps. At one stage (at 3am) there were 6 people sitting on these steps singing loudly, drinking and eating take away food. The 'soundproof' windows didn't help reduce the noise that much.

There was also constatnt noise - shouting and door banging inside the hotel. One person appeared to have been locked out of his room (at 4am) and was shouting outside to get let back in. Hotel staff came to help him and were also shouting (very unprofessional) - could they not just have got a master key and let him back in his room? The hotel was very popular with loud hen nights who had little respect for other guests.

The standard of breakfast food was very poor. All drinks (juices and hot drinks) came out of drinks machines. When I see drinks machines in hotel restaurants I worry - a shortcut that indicates lack of care for customers (anything to save money). I got some 'tea' out of the machine and it tasted like a cross between dishwater and coffee (it definitely wasn't tea!). The cooked breakfast wasn't much better - fatty, greasy bacon, overcooked greasy hash browns, the worst suasage I've ever tasted and overcooked fried egg. We didn't bother with brakfast on the second day even though it was included in the price.

The location of the hotel is great but it does lack in other crucial departments. When I pay to stay in a hotel of this standard I at least expect to get a good night's sleep and be served a good quality breakfast. These didn't happen in Jurys Edinburgh.

I stayed in Jurys Inn at the start of January for three nights, sharing a triple room with two friends. We had read about the noise at the back of the hotel so we asked for a front-facing room. We were told there were none available. As we walked to the room I was reminded of the reports of the chemical smell in the hotel. We got to the room, opened the door and the smell changed from chemicals to paint. The room was in the process of being painted so we went back down to reception. We were assigned another room (front-facing!). The door of the en-suite of the new room had been painted and was still wet but we didn’t want to move again so we stayed in the room.
The room was as I expected from reading other reviews- clean, double bed was small, low water pressure in the shower, water not very hot and only 1 large and 2 small towels. I asked at reception for more towels but they never arrived. Luckily we found the trolley every morning and got extra towels.
On the positive side, the staff were friendly and informative, the hotel is clean and it is in a great location. We paid £49 a night and got value for money. I would stay here again.

Nice hotel in a great location. It is a few blocks from the train station and 100 yards or so to the Royal Mile. The rooms are simple but very spacious for Europe. Staff was very helpful and polite every time we saw them.

We stayed at the Jurys Inn last night in Edinburgh and it was ok.
The girl on reception was VERY friendly and helpful and all the other staff were smiley and made us feel welcome apart from one fella behind the bar.
Rooms were nice and clean although the shower was a bit dodgy!
The location was brilliant.
Only downside was the food in the restaurant. Cant comment on evening meals but we thought the breakfast was awful. Definetely recommend going out for something to eat.

Would probably return because it was so close to the sights but as I said above will be looking elsewhere for food!
