this hotel was very good, however even though staff were attentive and professional, I found staff were not laid back enough to have a chat with the customer or make them feel at home. Hotel is really convenient to the city centre, which is a plus.
The room was just exceptional. We were given a suite, and as our stay was short, we did not have time to relax in the suite. The only thing, I missed about this hotel was lack of scottish workers.
Also, as an Irish person, the menu was very european and not like we had predicted....saying that any food, we did take was lovely!

For a “Boutique” Hotel we found the rooms outdated. Terrible TV equipment. Shower temperature impossible to control. Breakfast was too fancy / weird and staff not very attentive. Hotel quite far from central shops etc, good 15 minute walk.

all nice gowns, towels, toiletries, etc.

room service food was delicious.
breakfasts were v scrummy, especially cooked breakfast.

Overall it was a good stay but I agree with some of the negatives of the previous review.

Booked for a 3 night stay from 21/4/2006 to 24/4/2006.

On check in my wife and I were given a twin room but they soon changed it to a double. As the previous review we were given two single quilts which was not ideal but we tolerated it! However as this is a character property the windows were large and there was no a/c and as the sun came out(it occasionally does this in Edinburgh!) the room warmed up to such an extent that we need to keep the window open all night!

Great location
Excellent staff and they were very freindly and helpful.
Car parking was a problem only on a Saturday night but I double parked and left the keys in reception.
The chef was excellent as he was very flexible. (My wife is a vegetarian who eats healthy organic food!)
