We were in an executive suite. The bathroom was horrible, with a white cracked and stained bath panel, dirty grouting and chips in the bath.

The room had dust in the corners, the lamp shade had a cigarette burn or something on it and there was dust around the tables. The tables had obviously only been wiped with a wet cloth rather than polished.

When dining, my wife asked for a high chair, it didnt arrive at the table. When my wife asked for a second time, it arrived stained with bits of food all over it.

As this was a treat, we were disgusted with the standard considering my stay at the Sheraton Sofia and Krakow were exceptional, the standards at the Sheraton Edinburgh left a terrible taste in my mouth.

The cleaning staff obviously need a good telling off and other staff shown that the standard they are currently undertaken is disgusting.

Shame in you Sheraton Grand Edinburgh!

On the good side, the SPA was amazing, clean and full of brilliant contraptions for making one relaxed!

The food was ace in the restraunt, and the price was OK.

Have just returned from a weekend at this hotel. We had been given a spa break from family as a christmas gift. After having read some of the reviews on this, I was a bit hesitant about booking, but hey, it was a gift. The rooms are a little dated, but we paid a bit extra on check in for a castle view room. You cant put a price on that view. Good location for getting around the city. We loved the spa. This is truly amazing. I can believe that people would complain about paying £20 to use the facilities. It is totaly worth it. Where else can you get totaly relaxed and chilled in two hours for only £20! The staff are lovely. My husband had a massage and I had a facial. Very indulgent!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Sheraton Hotel and Spa for 3 nights at the end of January. The hotel is located in a really convenient spot with quite a few restaurants situated nearby. The hotel itself is very welcoming with nice commununal areas and decent sized rooms. The staff were really helpful throughout our stay including the concierge who pointed us in the direction of a fab italian restaurant.

The only downside to out stay was by the morning of our second night the hotel boiler had broken down, leaving the hotel with no hot water or heating. This may sound awful but the hotel handed the whole situation brilliantly. We had a heater brought to our room within 30 minutes, we could use the shower facilities at the spa just a few minutes away and by the end on the day the hotel were offering to move guests to a nearby hotel. My boyfriend and I decided to stay as it was our last night.

The spa and gym are great. The gym is certainly better than most hotel gyms with a good range of cardio equipment. The spa is also quite special. I would recommend getting a spa treatment if staying at the hotel.

Reading a previous review the group of skaters were still hanging around the square outside the hotel and I am surprised the hotel doesn't try to move them on.

We would certainly stay at the Sheraton again.

Room was just average. Not really the kind of luxury we've come to expect from Sheraton. The location was good for touring Edinburgh - convenient to walk to restaurants and shopping and the double-decker tourist bus stopped just across the street. The staff was generally pretty nice and helpful.

I am disabled so it was quite annoying when all the skate boarders that seem to hang around the hotel were slow to get out of the way when I wanted to use the ramp in/out of the hotel on my motorized scooter. You'd think the security staff could get rid of the teenagers that utilize the ramp as though it is their own, but I guess not.
