Stayed in room 216 for several nights in November. Absolutely fabulous. This is a large suite room with sitting area and two Queen size beds. The bath area was also just beautiful. The room was like having my own apartment and had a fabulous view of the castle. I loved sitting watching sunsets from my sitting area!
My dad was just down the hall in a King room. While much smaller, it still had a good sized bath area and lovely view. We ate at the hotel several times in both the prix fixe menu restaurant (Pompadour) which was very good. Chisholms was also excellent in menu, but the service was a little annoying.
Loved the server Andrew in the afternoons at the bar who was most helpful in suggesting whiskys for my dad and bringing out shortbread and tea for me!
For those wishing to stay here... understand they have recently renovated all the rooms & they are just beautiful. But you must also know that in a very old building there are a variety of types of rooms and sizes. If you are going to spend the money to go to a hotel with such a fabulous location and amenities you will most likely pay for that as well.
That said, I would highly recommend this hotel for those who are not on a budget. You won't regret it!
