“It was just like staying with old friends.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2010

We picked no 16 Learmonth Terrace off the website because it was central and reasonably priced. The welcome we got from Joon was fantastic. The room was spotless and incredibly generous in size. The breakfasts were amazing and extremely generous, in the Simpson's own kitchen with little titbits being offered in addition, straight from the oven - not like the normal B&B breakfast. There was even a carafe of whisky provided in the bedroom. One evening we were invited to take a glass of wine or two with Joon and Peter and we could have spent the evening happily chatting. Everything was perfect and we were sad to leave.
We came as guests and we left as friends - what more can you say?

I stayed with Joon and Peter for a while in November while moving between houses, and can happily report that their B&B is absolutely first class. Their gorgeous house is located very centrally, with a bus stop less than 2 minutes walk away. All the facilities in the room were excellent, especially the private bathroom and the heated towels. It was also great to stay somewhere with such a brilliant selection of art on the walls. I would recommend Joon and Peter to anyone (and have already told friends about their B&B!) not only because they're both lovely people, but also because their brilliant B&B has privacy, quiet and comfort in a brilliant location.

We came over from France for a weekend break in the beautiful city of Edinburgh and feel we were very lucky to discover Joon's b&b in such a lovely townhouse. Our private entrance led to our large room which had an extremely comfortable bed and a host of excellent facilities. We particularly appreciated the wifi, satellite tv and a fridge that was actually noise-free (a rarity indeed). Additional personal touches like a welcome "dram" and a basket with homemade tablet etc. made us feel really welcome from the start. In our spotlessly clean private bathroom we were provided with slippers, heated towels and a courtesy pack of toiletries. Our room was very spacious, beautifully decorated and the breakfasts were unforgettable! Joon and Peter were the perfect hosts - very friendly and helpful but also discreet. They recommended restaurants and a lovely river walk. We were within easy reach of all major sightseeing sites and had a really memorable weekend. We would have no hesitation in recommending this b&b.

We took an unforeseen detour to Edinburgh in early November and stayed in this lovely B&B that was recommended to us. We will in turn recommend it to friends who will be visiting in the New Year as it surpassed all expectations from our previous experiences with B&Bs, namely the beautiful large bedroom and bathroom. It was very clean and very quiet and close to all amenities that we needed. We wanted to go further afield on our second day and hoped on a bus nearby. The breakfast was superb as was all the info that Joon provided to help us navigate the attractions that we wanted to avail ourselves.
Value for money excellent!!

Staying with Joon and Peter was a joy. Their home is a beautiful townhouse in the centre of historic Edinburgh. Our room was ideal - large with a comfortable bed, sofa, fridge, music, welcome pack of information. Fresh flowers were appreciated. We had our own, private entrance and a very smart bathroom with robes and slippers provided. There were many thoughtful touches - a stylish whisky decanter in our room along with Joon's homemade choc rock and tablet plus shortbread, tea and coffee. Joon and Peter were very helpful and their kindness made our visit special. Breakfasts (served in the large kitchen overlooking the garden) were the best quality we've had in a bed and breakfast. Joon asked us to leave an order the night before and was very flexible about what we wanted to eat and when. Her homemade jams were delicious along with organic muesli, fresh fruit, yoghurts and excellent coffee. Apparently the bread from the local deli, Herbie's, is famous locally and we can understand why. The Crombie haggis was delicious too - we are now true fans of Scottish food! The atmosphere is warm and laidback and we both agreed we had a wonderful time in our smart and artistic home from home.

My Wife & I visited Edinburgh in October & thought # 16 was a great find. It was spacious & Central- only a short walk from Princess Street & places of interest. We loved exploring the Historic New Town & Stockbridge area & also appreciated the peace & quiet of Joons Home which is Stylish & Arty. Accomodation was top notch. Our room was large & very clean; the double bed was extremely confortable with fresh bedding& the extra pillows were super comfy. We really appreciated the space in the roomas we could relax on the large sofa, reading or watching television without feeling hemmed in. A small fridge is provided plus ipod docking & information on places of interest & restaurants. Joon went to a lot of effort with small extras. We loved the "wee dram" of whisky in our room & her chock rock was a delicious nibble as was the shortbread & Scottish Tablet. The bathroom for our private use was very smart. Neat shampoos & Conditioners were available (along with towelling robes & Slippers) and the heated towel rails added luxury. We appreciated our own enterence which let us come & go as we pleased, loved the patio outside our room - even if it was a wee bit chilly. Joons breakfasts will forever be remembered. Great porrige & her home made jams were delicious. She makes a pretty good cup of coffee too. Not only was Joon a great hostess but she went out of her way to make our stay & tour of Edinburgh a Great memory. We made a friend of Joon & look forward to our next visit to Her home & Edinburgh

I travelled with my son for the October holiday and stayed 3 nights. Joon greeted us warmly and encouraged us to leave our bags early in the morning while we rushed out to explore. The room was large, spotlessly clean and with interesting artwork. The bed was extremely comfortable and my son loved the huge sofa bed for slouching on after a whirl round the city. Our private bathroom was sheer luxury – with power shower and smart jacuzzi bath, heated towel rail and fluffy robes to lounge in. Slippers were provided; we had our own fridge in the room as well as a welcome dram of whisky, Scottish tablet, shortbread and Joon’s speciality choc rock.
Breakfasts were top class. Joon would check the night before what we wanted and we loved her full Scottish breakfast as well as wonderful fruits, yoghurt and homemade jam. She was very good at catering for different age groups. She pointed my son in the direction of trendy teenage shops and organised a top hairdresser to cut his hair at short notice. She even asked her friend, a personal shopper, to drop round to recommend places to suit me. We really felt like we were in a 5 star hotel by the time we left. The location is very central so we could get to shops and see the sights easily and our room was very quiet with no traffic noise. We’ll definitely return and would highly recommend Joon’s home for a great place to stay.
