“Leave your backpacks behind!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 19, 2013 via mobile

The view is superb but its really narrow at the top and you'll struggle even if you have a tiny backpack on. Also make sure when you are going down and nobody else is coming up otherwise you have to go up (again!) all the way with them :'(

“Great views of the city but not one for claustrophobics!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

Seeing Edinburgh from the top of Scots monument is a great experience. It's a shame you have to climb an increasingly narrow spiral staircase to get there! I really did not enjoy walking up this one way staircase...especially as the people coming down them at the same time were fairly large. I would reccommend this to anyone who doesn't mind small spaces or not getting tired easily.

“Excellent and under-rated”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

Everyone just seems to walk by and ignore it. OK, there's no flashing lights or games to play but we loved it on our family trip. It's a proper old-school attraction.....no big gift-shop or sales job and it's very reasonable to buy tickets.
It's probably pretty obvious.....there's a lot of steps to the top! And, some parts of the stairwell are small-ish i.e. you take your time when passing folk going the opposite way. You'll need to be able bodied to get up there. I suppose that's a part of an old attraction that it was built long before anyone with a mobility problem was taken into account.
Our youngest was 4 when we went and managed it no problem but you'll want to keep a good eye on your kids.
The view is great and it feels much higher than you're expecting when you get to the top!
Well worth a visit.

“Well worth the 287 steps to the top”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

287 steps to the top......the view of the city is amazing. The last 30 or so steps to the top are a bit of a tight fit if someone is coming down.

“Awesome veiw of old and new city, a must for a birds eye veiw.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013 via mobile

Saw this monument from the castle and stopped by the next day only to find out that you could climb the stairs inside to the four different levels. Wow, what a view. Well worth the price of admission. A must if you like the birds eye view.
