“Beautiful but take change in your pocket”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013 via mobile

Lovely church, and very beautiful features and stained glass. However two things bugged me. First, the alter being in the centre of the church. Very unusual. Secondly, if you want to do anything in this church: walk in, take a photo, light a candle, see the old part of the church, costs you a donation at each point. I don't mind paying, but to do all of the above costs £8-£9. Why not just take some money at the door from everyone. Its a must see though. Just walk around is my recommendation

“Beautiful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

You are guaranteed to walk past here, so do yourself a favour and pop in. A beautiful interior to admire, lots of quiet space to rest or contemplate. Well worth a visit.

“At the heart of Scottish history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

...and in the heart of the Royal Mile, St. Giles Cathedral is worth visiting. There is no "entry fee" as such, but they do ask for a donation, and an extra bit for permission to take photographs. Don't miss the Thistle Chapel, which looks ancient but isn't, and ask a docent to show you the bagpiping angels.

“A Beautiful Cathedral”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

St. Giles stands out on the Royal Mile as a landmark structure. The exterior is impressive and the interior is also magnificent. The self-guided tour brochure allowed me to find all of the interesting landmarks inside the church. They requested a 3-pound donation for the tour. It is worth the 2-pound extra fee for photography as there are several picture-worthy items of interest in the cathedral. The Thistle Chapel is particularly remarkable and photo-worthy. It only takes a few minutes to look around to see everything. It is worth stepping in to see this structure while you are on the Royal Mile.

“Beautiful both inside and out.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

Very striking building that nearly draws you in as you make your way up or down from the Castle.

Imposing from the outside but relatively small and intimate once inside. The Choir just happened to be practising when we were there so created a really lovely atmosphere.

Still holds Services so plan your trip around them.
