“Good stay, shame about the bed!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 days ago NEW

Stayed here again for three nights in April, we were given room 213 on the second floor. The room was small but adequate, clean bedding and bathroom facilities. The only thing that let it down was the bed, I don't know if this room has the new Travelodge bed but it was like sleeping on floorboards it was so hard, and every time you turned over it creaked! We have stayed at this Travelodge before and the bed was fine, so not sure what was wrong with this one?!

I booked a room for my 5 year old son and myself for 3 nights for our short break in Edinburgh.
Having read reviews for this hotel, I phoned them prior to our visit as I did not want a room on the 3 floors beneath the ground floor. I requested a room on the upper floors mostly so that I would be guaranteed to receive a signal on my phone.
They gave us a room on the 2nd floor at the front of the hotel. The room was very clean and we could not hear any buses that used the bus stop near the front of the hotel.
Great location, clean & value for money. The staff were also very polite.

Room Tip: Request upper floors

Was at a show in the playhouse at the weekend and the Travelodge Waterloo place is in a great location for there and for the train station so that's a plus! Only paid £39 for the room so that's another plus!
What lets the hotel down is the room its self. The room was on the small side. Its obviously an older building and the floor boards were creaky plus there was a slight slope to the room. The bathroom was tiny and struggled with the toilet, no room and just about put my back in trying to get to the toilet roll!
Wouldn't have wanted to stay here more than the one night and would look elsewhere next time

We stayed in this travelodge as it was close to the playhouse. The room was ok, very noisy even with sliding doors at the window to reduce it. No mirror above desk if you were trying to do make up/hair. Only 2 plug sockets in the room. Toilet was too close to the door and toilet roll holder was like on your lap. Pillows were hard as bricks and when we asked no softer pillows. Staff weren't very greetful just felt like we were an inconvience. Overall we had an average stay in this hotel, it was worth what we paid but not full price normal rate.

Hotel was fantastic location, only 2mins walk from Waverley Station.
Great for exploring Royal Mile & Castle.
Room was very small for a family and had an extremely bad musty odour. Very noisy at night.

Myself and 7 year old daughter stayed for 3 nights. Inconvenient to have no fridge in your room when the hotel has no restaurant or cafe. We stored milk and drinks in the bay window. Room was not cleaned on 2nd night, bins not emptied etc and no attempt to do this although staff offered to top up clean towels etc. One receptionist was rude and abrupt but other staff were friendly. The location is fantastic for the price and a nice clean and fresh feeling hotel all in all. Our room and bathroom was good. TV channels were more limited than I would expect. Generally I would stay again because I am not too fussed about having overly attentive service. If you just need no fuss and quick check in its perfect. Well situated for rail and bus links and all main sights including quiet walks. Quiet but not out of the way for a city centre hotel. We felt very safe and chilled during our stay.

I was a little nervous about staying at a Travelodge as I've had really bad experiences previously. However, this hotel is totally fine! Rooms are basic but modern and spotlessly clean. Our room, 109, was large and comfortable, and there was little street noise despite being on the first floor. The location is also perfect for getting out and about in Edinburgh.

I'd definitely recommend to budget conscious travellers!
