My room was spacious and spotlessly clean with a very comfortable bed. There was coffee and tea available a nice television and shower gel and soap in the bathroom as well as nice towels. I was able to borrow a hair dryer from reception when I needed one and the staff were very helpful at all time. 30 minutes free Wifi applied.
The hotel is perfect to visit the whole city on foot, it is 5 minutes from Waverley Edinburgh station so great if you are travelling by train.
I would recommend it and certainly use it again

Room Tip: We were on the 3rd floor so no street noise at all very quiet I would recommend this.

We recently stayed for 3 nights and had a very enjoyable stay. We wanted a hotel within walking distance of Waverley station and had looked at several others but felt that the costs of these outweighed the benefits so eventually settled for here. Although we have used other budget chains' hotels this is our first stay in a Travelodge.

The booking process was easy and went without a hitch as did the booking in. We found our room on the third floor adequate in size to meet our needs and it looked modern and clean. There were two pillows (one soft one hard) on the bed and the bathroom although not spacious again suited our needs. The shower was perhaps not the greatest as far as water pressure was concerned but then it is a budget hotel so what can you expect. The windows were triple glazed so outside noise despite its central position was never really a problem. Breakfast was a snack in a bag so we didn't try it so cannot comment on that but there are quite a few other establishments locally offering breakfast as varying prices so that was not really a problem.

I must admit that we both had disturbed sleep at night because we felt the room overly warm (who would expect the sun to be shining and the weather mild in Scotland in September?) but overall we had a very enjoyable stay. The room was cleaned each day with the towels replaced each time as with the tea and coffee making materials.

Room Tip: There are several floors with rooms below ground level so natural light could be an issue so this sh...

We stayed here for one night recently. First impressions were not good. There was a tatty flag hanging over the street doorway. The woman on reception was very curt and po-faced as we arrived. She looked like she had the cares of the world on her shoulders. The room was clean and tidy. We booked a family room as Travelodge doesn't have twin rooms. They should.
The family room we had consists of the main standard Travelodge bed which was fine, but the foldaway bed was hopeless. It was hard and uncomfortable. It was impossible to get a good night's sleep on it. The shower curtain had a stale smell about it, although the rest of the bathroom was clean. The overall experience was disappointing.

We were just transiting here on our way to the Isle of Skye. It was clean and was decently priced -- $69 for a family room. Very close (5mins) to the main train station where we needed to catch the train to Mallaig.

My brother left his laptop behind in the room and he ended up taking a train back to Edinburgh after our trip to the Isle of Skye to retrieve it. They did not contact us to let us know that we had left it -- and we were frantic for a little while because we were not sure where he had lost it. If he was not able to pick it up, he would have had to mail them a self-addressed prepaid envelope for them to mail it back to him. Not unreasonable and they were helpful in retrieving it.

This hotel is close to the train station and shopping. It was clean and perfect for a short stay. There is a lovely pastry shop next door and the staff at the hotel were quite lovely. I would stay here again.

Clean but really barebones. Great location for walking to attractions and tour bus stops. No bath mats and showers leak onto the floor. Toilet did not flush properly. Toilet paper was thin and not soft.

Excellent location being minutes from the train station and near pretty much everything! The rooms are basic but that's what's expected. New beds are very comfortable and rooms are very clean. Our windows opened a little bit and as long as you left the slidey doors open through the day/night, it wasn't too hot. Yes you can hear the traffic and other outside noise but yet again, that's to be expected in a city centre hotel. Staff were incredibly miserable mind and offered no greetings, help or anything at all really!!!
