“Excellent bar/restaurant.”

Had a meal at The Steamie with friends and enjoyed it. The food was very good and the waitress was very friendly and attentive. Good value for money and wine reasonably priced. Would go back.

“Appearances Can Be Deceiving”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013 via mobile

Visited Steamies with a Groupon voucher while in Edinburgh on a short break from Cornwall. Had no idea what to expect and to be honest when I arrived outside with my wife I was to say the least a little hesitant but I had no need to be....The welcome was warm and friendly and the food was a real surprise. We had Greek style tapas to start ( including a Scottish twist! ) and then the Greek sharing plate which was huge and finished with the Champagne Raspberry Torte which was beautiful. All of this was served with real friendliness. When we left we agreed that definitely when it comes to Steamies...." Appearances can be deceiving" . Don't miss this little jem.

“Good pub food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013

Two of us visited one lunchtime last week using a Groupon voucher which offered each of us a 3 course meal and a glass of wine. It was our first visit and although the place was quiet the staff member who greeted and served us our meal and drinks was not only efficient but very friendly too. He was terrific. We should have got his name but unfortunately did not.

There is a wide choice of dishes mostly with either a Greek or an American influence, (the latter mostly of the burger/hot dog variety) and some classic British dishes. All of our dishes were hot and cooked as they should be. Main courses were fairly substantial. Without the Grouon two courses would have done us.

One of us chose the calamari starter followed by steak and ale pie (mash, carrots, peas) and the other chose garlic mushrooms followed by fish and chips. We both had the raspberry cream dessert. We had a nice choice of wines by the glass and the red we chose (one of three) went down very well.

All in all, a very tasty pub lunch and the prices are reasonable. Menus on their website.

“BEST HOT DOG & FRIES IN TOWN”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

Went to the Steamie on a Wowcher and Wow was it great. I must admit I have passed the Steamie a few times and thought, it looks like an old mans pub and went elsewhere! Well there has only been one loser in doing that and thats me. The menu is a split between Greek & American food, which on the face of it seems odd, but it does work. I had calamari and my wife had mushrooms to start and it was lovely, but remember to ask for mayo to dip your calamari into. For mains we both went for the fully loaded chilli hot dog with fries and it was fantastic. If you have watched Man Vs Food and longed for one of the American style Hot Dogs he eats on his show, well look no further get yourself to the Steamie. I would like to say a big thank you to the staff for making it a great night.

“Nice atmosphere, good food and welcoming staff - recommended.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

Went to Steamie on a Groupon deal having never visited before and was very pleasantly surprised. From the outset, we were made very welcome by the staff who were polite and helpful throughout. Initially unsure about the setting, however, we were won over by the relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The food was fresh, very tasty and well presented. Good choice of draught beers on offer.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will definately be back.
