Description: The Beach House is a beach-side café on Portobello promenade (Edinburgh's Seaside). The cafe serves award winning Organic coffees, delicious breakfasts of croissants, scones or poached eggs & bacon; for lunch our menu includes sandwiches, panini, delicious salads and heart warming soups. We also offer a range of special breads – focaccia, seaweed; wholemeal and fresh baguettes. For afternoon tea, why not try our range of fabulous cakes. From inside, customers look out onto the shimmering expanse of the Forth; seagulls wheeling, ships steaming, surf crashing, kids playing, its location is as good as it gets. One reviewer put it 'The Beach House is simply café perfection'. Come and find us on the Promenade at the foot of Bath Street, Portobello.

“Excellent food, great views, just what Portobello needed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

Have been here several times after/during walks along the prom and never been disappointed with the food. The specials, salads and paninis are great, as are the cakes and ice cream and although not cheap the prices are reasonable for food of this quality. Service is very friendly, could be faster sometimes but then who cares unless you are in a rush as there is a great view over the Forth to take in. Hopefully they will get approval for the planned expansion next door, which will give some extra space.

“Room with a view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

This is a cafe overlooking the beach at Portobello with panoramic views along the coast to Fife and up to North Berwick. It is very popular with families with children and you may need to wait to get a table. They do a range of snacks, "specials" and salads for £7-9 and a good choice of home made cakes and fine coffee. Its a nice location and the service was efficient and friendly, but be prepared for a buzzy, noisy cafe.

“They need to get organised!!!!!!!!!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2012

I still like this place, lovely atmosphere and food BUT total chaos. They need to seperate the ice cream and take out food and drinks from those sitting in, or outside on the prom. There is no need to wait so long for sit down food, there seems to be plenty of staff but they do everything 'in order' !!! You even have to wait in a long queue to pay!!!!! with all the folk wanting icecreams.
Some of the outside tables seem to be 'bagged' by mums with children on the beach, while people wanting to sit and order food have to wait amongst all the chaos.
It really is such a shame as it could be so good, as in a previous review I said it would be great to have newspapers.
Please get your act together!!!!!!!
