We stopped by for lunch recently, impressed by the menu and the décor. I ordered queen scallops starter and a chowder main. The queen scallops arrived covered in a deep layer of what appeared to be - and had the consistency in the mouth - of sand. It was awful, I have no idea what the scallops were like, since they were completely overwhelmed by this substance. Was it burnt biscuit ... or very old breadcrumbs? Horrible.
The chowder contained squid (vastly overcooked) old, past it smoked fish( horribly overcooked again), raw potato cubes and rubbery, stale mussels. It was inedible.
Reading some of the reviews here, the normal chef must have been on holiday or very, very drunk.
I hope it was just an off day.
