“This place is awesome.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2010

Stayed here last night as I was visiting Edinburgh on business. I can only agree with all the other reviews that this place is simply awesome. It's perfect in every way, from the service to the cleanliness, to the interior design, to the location, to the breakfast and softness of the pillows and the broadband speeds! The location would be great for tourists to explore the city as well as everything is within fairly easy walking distance. I could not get over how helpful the owner was to me. I will absolutely book this place in the future and give my warmest recommendations to everyone.

From the moment we arrived after a long and tiring journey and were offered a glass of wine, we knew we had discovered a real find in Edinburgh. From the beautifully decorated and comfortable rooms with a TV with integrated DVD and Ipod docking station, to the delicous in room coffee, cookies and chocolates, to the fabulous bathroom with bathrobes, underfloor heating and large fluffy towels, and the most delicious breakfast, everything was perfect. Sue could not have been a warmer and more hospitable host. She could not do enough for us to make sure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed it so much we have booked all the rooms for the weekend of our wedding in June and will certainly be back ourselves to enjoy this outstanding B&B.

Great Hotel, great service, great breakfast, well run, lots of extras like sweets in the room and a video library, and we came in late and cold and after a request for a drink of whiskey gave us the bottle!

There are so many things you can say about Six Brunton Place and all will be very positive!

It's the small personal touches that you will enjoy while staying here. It will make you feel like you're at home and welcome (and it definitely made our trip): Homemade flapjacks, the lounge where you can chill out, the variety of teas & coffee, the bottle of water and chocolate in your room etc. I could go on!

As for the location / guest house itself: It's a 10/15 minute walk to the Royal Mile and the New Town and the rooms are huge with lots of modern cons (but with some original features), great bathroom, a wide choice of breakfast and a very friendly host (where nothing was too much trouble!)

You really won't regret staying here!

We stayed here for the Military Tattoo. From the outside the building appears to be a very normal town house but inside its very high ceilings and stone walls make it beautifully castle like. We stayed in the garden room which was nicely decorated and quite a bit bigger than the pictures on the website would have you believe with every conceivable bit of technical gadgetry, including internet connection (included in the price). Freshly made flapjacks were provided along with tea, coffee, and a few different types of quality chocolate, (we were very impressed with all the pleasant little touches).
Breakfast catered for all tastes from cereals, lovely fresh fruits, and porridge. But you should really take every opportunity to enjoy the beautiful full Scottish breakfast.
All round, the stay was fantastic, Sue was very welcoming and attentive; we couldn't have asked for anything more.

This was our first visit to 6 Brunton Place but hopefully not our last. We stayed for 2 nights during Half Term and had a truly wonderful stay. With our 14yr old son we were allocated the Garden Room which was very quiet and peaceful with a lovely view out to a walled garden. This huge family room and en-suite bathroom was pure luxury, very sylish and immaculate, it certainly had the 'wow' factor.
Upon arrival we were greeted by Sue our very friendly host who made us feel most welcome and at home, nothing was too much trouble. We travelled by train to Waverley station which is only about 1 mile away. The Guest House is ideally located being only a 15 min stroll to the start of the Royal Mile.
Sue really looked after us, the breakfast was mouth watering with plenty of choice, locally sourced produce all freshly prepared.
The attention to detail is what makes this Guest House so special, it's 5 star rating is thoroughly well deserved. We would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone looking for that 'extra special something' in a place to stay.

After 3 nights in Six Brunton Place, we didnt want to leave... this place is certainly one not to miss, its home away from home! My daughter 8 and I were all set to go after a scrumptious fully cooked breakfast! I mean FULL breakfast with all the trimmings... Everything was so fresh and to top it off being an Aussie, they even had vegemite!! The hosts, Sue and Mike were absolute gems and couldn't have been more accomodating with nothing being too much trouble. The room was spacious and delux, the bed was soooo comfy and the sheets ahhh high quality and crisp. Not to mention a fantastic hot powerful shower, a wonderful way to unwind after a day of sight seeing! The garden is a hidden treasure and sitting within the beautiful stoned wall on a sunny day with a glass of wine was a perfect way to spend a late afternoon. Location location, it was close to everything and just perfect :)... thank you 6 Brunton Place for a most memorable stay, we will be back!
