“Edinburgh Excellence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 11, 2013

We had a wonderful stay. The location is great --- 20-30 minute walk to most of the major sights and close to many good pubs and restaurants. John was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful in providing advice and directions. Rooms were extremely clean with comfortable beds and ensuite bathrooms. Breakfasts were fantastic with many local organic products. Good value for money. We would definitely return.

Room Tip: We had the room with the double bed in the back which was very quiet. The boys shared the room in th...

Lush bedding and a great, renovated, bathroom. The double (that also had a single bed) was roomy and comfortable. The room looked out to the backyard, which was lovely. We walked from the rail station and found the location to be good -- between two active locales. John directed to the laundromat and served awesome breakfasts. My husband had his first haggis and loves it.

Very enjoyable & relaxing stay in a comfortable, clean & welcoming guest house. The twin room was spacious with very comfortable beds & lots of added extras. Vegetarian breakfast was delicious! I would be very happy to stay here again.

Very happy to stay with John and his family. He waited for us till 9.30p.m in the evening and gave us nice and useful attention and suggestion about the room, facility and city. The triple room was very big and clean and the breakfast room was really lovely. We tried full and light breakfast, and both were good. Especially on the last morning, John cooked breadfast for us earlier than usual. Though it was a little bit far from the city centre, but it was easy to find and John helped us booked the taxi to railway station (only cost £5.5 for 3 person with 3 big suitcases). I would like to recommend this b&b to anyone!

Room Tip: en-suit triple room was very big and clean

We highly recommend McCraes's B&B. John was helpful from the first email contact through our last night in Edinburgh. The room was clean and cozy, the bed very comfortable with organic cotton sheets, and a sitting room is available to guests. John uses organic ingredients to create a delicious and as hearty a breakfast and one desires. The hospitality was exceptional! McCraes's B&B is in a quiet neighborhood, only a short walk from a great selection of restaurants and under a mile to the train station, Edinburgh Castle and other city sights.

A cozy B&B with a friendly very helpful Irishman as owner. The triple room was big, with excellent bathroom facilities. Nice attention to detail such as the Scottish made woolen blankets, a good selection of books and the organic tea. Very quiet room and comfortable beds for a good night's sleep. Breakfast was simple but good ( we did not chose the optional Scottish breakfast though). We felt very welcome and at home at McCraes's.

Room Tip: Room towards the backyard

What a shame that I only stayed one night! Excellent value for money, warm welcome, relaxed atmosphere, beautiful en-suite rooms with original character... I could go on... Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this b&b to anyone or stay here again myself!
