“Business and Pleasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2011

Stayed here for a couple of nights during a business trip with about other colleagues. Check in and check out were the only problems. They didn't seem to have enough staff for us at the moment we all arrived (about 10 of us).

The rooms are great. Not too big, and not too small. Everything is very trendy, artsy, and compact which I really like. The TV was a great little audio device which allowed me to play my iPod through it with ease.

Shower was very unique and took a little getting used to but still loved it. We drank and partied at the bar late and had a good time. Looking forward to visiting here again when I return.

My now husband and I chose to stay here on the night of our wedding after searching for the perfect place, it was right across the road from the location of our wedding. I have to say I was so impressed, our room was upgraded to a gorgeous corner room with fantastic views and had lots of space with lots of light and fashionable decor. The bathroom especially was beautiful, the shower amazing and the Nespresso coffee machine a nice touch.

Upon check in I ordered myself a Basil Mojito to banish the pre-wedding jitters, it took a little while so I called to check it was coming, it was there in a matter of minutes after this with a warm apology and I was told I would not be charged due to the delay, which was very kind of them. When we returned after the ceremony and meal there was a bottle of wine and a tasty little fruit tart waiting for us with a card congratulating us. Another lovely touch.

Breakfast was also perfect. i could not have enjoyed my stay here more, it made the perfect wedding all that more amazing. the staff were genuine and lovely and the whole building was modern and very classy. I thoroughly recommend

Agree with previous reviewer - rooms far too hot, extremely uncomfortable. There appeared to be no aircon and the system that we were trying to get cooler air out of was extremely noisy. All in all not a good nights sleep!
I booked a deluxe room, expecting slightly bigger and views over the city as described on the website, if you have been to edinburgh before dont waste your money on the 'views'. Rooms in a travelodge are bigger than the deluxe room. Room was dirty - the bright bold colours on the wall unfortunately highlighted the dirt and stains all over the walls, all very off putting.
Evening meal was good, breakfast not that impressive, bar has no atmosphere.
New spa is small but I did have one of the best facials I have ever had.
All the staff were pleasant but all very young and not very perceptive to see how dissapointed we were in the morning.
And finally the men all have to wear badly fitting, crushed suits !

Firstly I have to say this hotel is perfect location. In terms of location in Edinburgh the only other hotel that can rival it for location is the Radisson.

Not a bad hotel, just not great. It's all very hip and trendy, but not good enough if paying full price. There seems to be no staff above 25 years of age and that shows at times, there seems to be nobody taking any real control. We were kept waiting for the room to be ready, no dedicated concierge, air vents in room particularly noisy, breakfast not that great at £18, and they forgot to give us our wake up call.

On the flip side great location, staff are sweet if not all that efficient, free mini bar and movies is a great touch, and bathrooms are really nice.

Don't want to slate the hotel but don't want to build it up either. If it comes up as a good package deal on Expedia or Last Minute (as it did for us) then cool go for it, but if it doesn't book somewhere else for nearly 200 quid a night.

Myself and 10 friends ate at the in-house restaurant in the Missoni hotel in Edinburgh. Admitting fault on our part we had expected a party of 14 and came with a number of 10. The maître d’ advised us that, and note - AFTER ordering our food that due to our missing numbers in the party we would have to pay £20 a head cover charge between us for those missing diners. After two direct conversations with the maitre d' explaining that due to circumstances outwith our control we could not fill the the extra seats we finally came to a conclusion that thankfully we would not have to cover the missing persons with this tax but it was not without extensive debate. I can appreciate that in busy times and nights that this tax may be justifiable but there were at most 8 out of 20 tables taken in the whole restaurant. We had to resort to threatening leaving our ordered and cooked and almost served food on the table and walking to convince them that we would not pay this tax. Down to brass tacks - the food was average and whilst trying to live up to the standards of the brand Missoni they fell short of the mark and despite the fracas over the missing diners tax the pasta dishes for three of our party arrived almost 10 minutes later than the rest of our meat dishes, not acceptable when you pay £15 - £20 a main course, actually, not really acceptable in most circumstances. I had the patridge with spinach, it was generally ok flavoursome to a point, yet the wings were pretty sub standard for a £17 main course. Others said the venison was good and the lamb satisfied, but given the initial service it would have ideally been reduced but my inkling is that on a quiet night they were trying to secure the revenue no matter what. The staff did try to admittedly after the initial back and forths over numbers ramp up the service but it is certainly not how it should be administered. I am an Edinburgh resident and I will never return to Cucina, there are plenty more capable restaurants that deserve your custom. It was a shame that a quibble over table numbers in a half full restaurant dominated the conversation at the beginning of our evening.

We have just come back from staying in this great hotel. 27th to 29th december. The location just off the royal mile makes it the best for location. The staff are really friendly and cant help enough. The rooms are very clean with a big spacious bed that you could get lost in. They have thought of everything too, you can borrow a laptop if you need to go on the net and the internet is free so even better, no need to take your own laptop. They also do two complimentary laundry (two pieces a day), which is really helpful especially with how bad the weather has been. Its the little touchs that we enjoyed the most, the robes in the bathroom, the free mini bar with crisps and the coffee maker. Not to mention the movies on demand which there was so many to choice from.
We will definitely be returning to this hotel.
