This hotel is undoubtedly one of the best I have ever stayed in in Edinburgh. The accommodation was typical Designer Boutique very bright but it was not a question of style over substance - unlike others I could mention. The room was large (we treated ourselves a superior) with excellent views down Victoria Street and right across the city to the Pentlands. The shower room was huge with a with an ample supply of toiletries, towels and consumables.
Staff where all very smart in their designer uniforms - my wife was particularly taken with the doormen in their "Missoni Kilts" although I did sympathise with them standing outside in the bitter wind. Everyone from the reception staff to the waiters was more than helpful - actually volunteering information rather than having it dragged from them.
The bed was firm but exceptionally comfortable; the decor bright and welcoming. In addition to the mini-bar which is, incidentally, FREE!, the hotel provide a proper Nespresso coffee machine with ample coffee, sugar and fresh milk in the fridge. I had a bit of a problem getting it to work - but a phone call resulted in a member of staff arriving within minutes to show me how to fill it with water! The mini-bar is restocked with wine red and white, beer, water, milk, crisps and soft drinks. There is a kettle for morning tea if preferred.
I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough - I suspect we will revisit next time we are in the City.
