“Big no to connecting rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2011

We've just had a lovely stay at the Missoni but only after we were moved from a room with a connecting door. The guy in the next room wasn't noisy at all but it felt like we were in the same room. We could hear him sip his coffee! They really need to do something about those rooms.
We asked to be moved and the hotel staff were excellent and we were in a different room within 15 minutes. This was excellent service, in fact all the staff were really good throughout the hotel, however, the girl on reception admitted the adjoining rooms were something they needed to address. They should sort it now, or just keep those rooms for the folks that want them.

Quite possibly the best hotel I've ever stayed in. Really trendy but incredibly friendly and not at all pretentious. I can't wait to find a reason to go back and stay in it again - I loved it and would recommend it to anyone. It's not cheap but I spent the whole weekend delighted that I'd spent the extra money to stay there. Great central location, very luxurious surroundings, friendly and helpful staff that made you feel genuinely welcome -completely wonderful! I can't recommend it enough!

Bags barely touched the ground when the hotels concierge came over and duly whisked it away and put in our friends room. Ideal. Partner stayed in a suite for one night with a friend and I can say it was a beautiful room with quirky features and astunning rooftop viewof Edinburgh. Had awedding meal at the hotel and it was fab. Simple but very tasteful and elegant food. Bar staff were very attentful, respectful and helpfull. Great overall experience and would definately recmooned to a friend and will probably come back for a stay.

The interiors are hip, swanky, and cool! The dining experience was excellent! The location... right on the Royal Mile. 5 minutes walk from the castle, St Giles, and all the wonderful and amazing experiences waiting there.

However, what really set the Hotel Missoni apart for me was the service. Every member of the staff went the extra mile. From the lady doing laundry to the bellman to the wait staff. Awesome!!

But wait, the front desk and concierge team really took the prize and made our stay unbelievably special. Every request was taken as an opportunity to provide top shelf service. Great work and thanks!

Possibly the best hotel we've ever stayed in. Every single staff member was friendly and helpful. The room (we were upgraded to a suite) was stunning, and the food was fantastic. Would recommend to anyone and everyone for a special stay in Edinburgh.

I booked this hotel for my partners birthday and we both absolutely loved staying here. Rooms are decorated beautifully and are a great size. i was worried when i booked it would be small as i booked standard room but room was far from standard. Also fridge that is in room is quite big, big enough for you to take couple bottles of wine or fit medium bottle of champagne in if your celebrating. My partner was rather impressed by the tv there which you can also connect ipod to. And speakers from tv are in bathroom too, so can boogie to your fav tunes while getting ready!
Great location on the royal mile and few minutes walk from grassmarket area, where i'd recommend eating at the Steak and Mussel bar followed by cocktail at Dragonfly. Outstanding service from all staff at the hotel, so professional and always enquiring/offering ways to make your stay enjoyable. Only issue i had when stopping was that it was bit hot in room in middle of night, but turning on the air con soon fixed that. And room had lots of lovely coffees and teas in but no breakfast style tea. Staff were happy to send half a dozen up to us and with a little bottle of milk. I would also recommend having breakfast there, even just having the continental breakfast was scrumptious, lots of delicious choices and the staff serve your every need. Hoping to eat at the reataurant there next time we stop and try a few cocktails.
Hotel also offered to look after our bags for us the day when we checked out as our train wasn't till the evening. Very handy and saves you having to pay for someone doing this at the station.
I've already recommend this hotel to my parents and friends who are planning to stay in Edinburgh later this year, and my partner is planning to recommend it to his company for future work conferences and stop overs in Edinburgh.
Thank you for a fantastic stay Hotel Missoni, can't wait to stay again.

I surprised my girlfriend for her birthday with a weekend away in Edinburgh. Both of us never visited before.

I researched hotels in Edinburgh for quite some time, and none really had that extra edge about them like the Missoni does. Its funky, modern and well designed as well as all the other things you look for in a hotel, cleanliness, service etc.

We booked a normal room and when I booked online, I made a comment that we were staying for my girlfriends birthday and if possible to request a room with a nice view (as opposed to being stuck in a room looking over air conditioning units) and when we got to our room after having a pleasant, friendly check-in, we were escorted by a bell boy who had already taken the bags to our room previously. He showed us how the nespresso machine worked and where the complimentary mini fridge was, how the tv/internet/movies worked and left us to it.

The room was spacious, a huge bed, modern bathroom with ample complimentary toiletries, a lovely shower with rain shower faucet. Overall, not just the room, but all of the hotel was well designed. There a few extras included that do give the Missoni that extra buzz about it, such as the complimentary fridge stocked with soft drinks and still & sparkling waters, and crisps. Also, you get 2 free pieces of dry cleaning done, completely FREE, more than enough bathroom and beauty products - all something that you hardly ever see in todays budget tight economy, but really appreciated when you do.

We were just settling in our room when we had a knock at the door, we weren't expecting anyone, and the gentleman said it was "guest services" so my girlfriend opened the door and came back with a raspberry tart, and was wished to have a very happy birthday and a great weekend! - She was amazed and touched, because in all the hotels we've ever stayed in, we've never experienced personal service in this way before! It was of course free of charge and was never expected, purely out of good will on behalf of the Hotel Missoni.

We went out for the day, and retired back to the hotel for the night, and we were given the turn down service with our slippers put out and bed turned back and curtains drawn and lights turned down, and a little chocolate before bed!! - heaven!

Overall, this hotel is the epitome of service! plus the funky, cool hotel! - most of the time you get one of these, but generally, never both like we did here!

Thank you for having us, we would love to come back!!

Room Tip: just ask!! :)
