“Lovely Hotel, Great Location, Friendly Staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2010

Reception was friendly and efficient, our room was spacious & clean with the bathroom in an imaculate condition. The meals were very good value, beautifully presented and the home made bread was fantastic, congratulations Chef.
The hotel is idealy situated for all the main sites of interest and that includes shopping for my wife who was in her element. We walked everywhere and we are both senior citizens and did not find it hard going.
Special tip to those arriving by train at Waverley Station, leave the station by the back entrance, turn left and 50yds on the right is the service entrance to the hotel (easily missed! but it does have a small plaque on the wall) press the buzzer and they let you in, then use the lift to reception also leave the hotel that way on departing saves on time and carrying cases?
Only one minor point for anyone thinking of visiting this hotel:
1) Each evening at dinner the chef puts on a "special" but sometimes the busy staff forget to inform you, just ask, it is well worth it, my wife can vouch for that.

Our first trip to the Apex Waterloo Place and we were not disappointed. The hotel is in an excellent location pretty much on Princes Street, ideal for shopping, sightseeing and of course the many pubs and restaurants Edinburgh has to offer. The hotel is very elegant, communal areas chic and contemporary with v modern guestrooms. 42 inch lcd TV, huge bed, modern decor, we stayed in an executive room with a large bathroom with free standing bath and superb views. Room service v reasonable (£2.50 tray charge for breakfast - can't get better than that!). The staff were fantastic, very friendly, polite and totally customer focused. All in all, an excellent hotel with fantastic staff and facilities. We are looking forward to a return visit in November and December.

We stayed in a suite at the Apex Waterloo at the end of August, beginning of September 2010. The location is fantastic - kind of right between old and new town. The hotel staff was extremely helpful with any issues or questions we had about the room, they immediately came up to address our needs (the small refrigerator stopped working one day, within minutes after our call they had another one up). Hotel room itself was very clean, very comfortable. We didn't go to the restaurant, but the lobby bar was very comfortable and convenient to have. I would most definitely stay at the Apex Waterloo if we travel to Edinburgh again.

This was my 6th stay at an Apex hotel
Great location for seeing the sights of Edinburgh. We stayed for 3 nights .
Our room was on the 9th Floor, (it goes up to 10) to the side of the building facing Princes Street .Being high up helped as the view of the alley next door didn't seem to matter as much and the noise from the bar/night club on Saturday was less annoying.
Our son was a few doors down the corridor. The standard of both rooms was good, but there were a few niggles.
A few service issues, but on the whole the service was very good.
We would have liked to try the restaurant and the complimentary spa facilties, but our busy itineray prevented this.

We chose this hotel after much searching a deliberating on where we wanted to be and of course value for money. We were so happy we chose this hotel. The location is excellent. Out of the front door, turn right and within 3 minutes your are at the start of princes street.

The hotel was very clean and our room and facilities were top notch. The staff all excellent and the breakfasts were of a high standard. The only thing we had an issue with was the comfort of the bed we was certainly not good for a good nights sleep.

We would certainly have no hesitation staying at the hotel again.

Great location to the station too.

This is just another confirmation that the hotel is top notch at a reaonsable rate. To get to the hotel, we hoped on the Airlink bus from EDI and were dropped off at Waverly Station Bridge. From here, it was a short walk to Princes Street, a right turn and about 5 minutes later, we were at the hotel. The check-in process was pleasant and the staff was professional. The hotel itself is gorgeous inside and out and the restaurant looked very classy for a nice dinner and also had a nice breakfast spread. We decided to eat out for our breakfasts.

The location was stellar. We just took the North Bridge to reach the middle of the Royal Mile and then everything else was pretty central from that point. Take some time to explore the New Town also because we found some nice pedestrian lanes that run parallel with Prince's street and there is a good selection of pubs, bakeries, shops, etc here.

The room was a little on the small side but everything was stylish and functional. Ample space was given to the bathroom with a huge vanity, huge tub, and huge walk in shower. Even if the main room is small, a big bathroom always makes up for it in our eyes. The TV had about 40 channels with a good variety and everything was in English. The bed deserves its own review because it was outstanding. This was our first time being away from our two year old, so we had anxiety. However, the worry was quickly lifted away at night when we sank into this glorious bed. The reading lamps were easily adjustable and everything just seemed to work here.

The only small complaint is that the hotel charged us 5 Pound usage fee when we borrowed a plug adapter. This wasnt mentioned when we got it from the front desk. We used the hotel phone to call our house in Germany several times and the cost per minute was very inexpensive.

An outstanding stay and wouldnt hesitate to stay here again in the future. In fact, we hope to!

I stayed here for three days during the Fringe festival. a Wwonderful place with very helpful staff. May not be on the Royal Mile but in many ways it is better located just off the east end of Princes st. i say two other hotels that same week and t think this place was the best of the three for sure
