“Relaxing trip”

Fantastic hotel. Extremely good customer service, everyone very friendly. Great location. Great rooms. Big hotel but nice and quiet.
Its a shame that there was a certain amount of maintenance going on during my stay though (steam room wasn;t working too) but overall fantastic

I believe the hotel is good value for money.

The location is at the east end of the City, although very central, far enough away from everything to not be disturbed from a good nights sleep.

There is an adequate gym with steam (not working on our stay) and sauna, with a small swimming pool.

The bar area is a little sole less and although we did not eat in the restaurant, the menu looked fine.

I would recommend Leo's Beanery for some great breakfast and Castle Terrace for a fine dining experience. We also went to Jamie's for brunch which was up to his usual standards with a varied selection.

Overall better than the average mark, although not sure it was "good".

To sum up, value for money in a good location.

Room Tip: Get a room as high as possible as the hotel is on a slope so some rooms on lower floors are actually...

We were lucky enough to be bought a weekend away in Edinburgh by our children. We stayed in the Apex which is ideally situated close to the railway station and not far from all the sights. The hotel is spotless and the staff are excellent. Linda on the information desk was so helpful! Our room wasn't large but tastefully decorated and the bathroom was beautiful. The bed was so comfortable and the pillows were to die for. All in all a wonderful weekend.

I booked a long time in advance for a few days sightseeing in Edinburgh, and got a great rate on a three night stay in a Superior twin room. For the price, I was extremely pleased.

The location can't be beat, just a few steps from the train station and smack in between the "Old Town" (ie, the medieval part) and the "New Town" (if you can call Georgian "new").

The room was very large and comfortable, with extremely comfortable mattresses, pillows and duvet. The bathroom was even better, large and spacious with a big bathtub and separate shower.

The facilities are excellent for the price, with a nice bar and restaurant (neither of which we used - although they did look inviting!), a small but complete gym and a pool. For those that don't want to pay the hotel breakfast rate (we are light breakfast eaters so it doesn't make sense for us), there is a nice, independent coffee shop a few doors down as well as a Starbucks a few steps further.

The only minus was that the water in the bathroom wasn't really hot, although I never complained about it so might have been easily fixed and hence isn't a fair complaint.

The staff are very pleasant.

I would definitely stay here again.

A quick THANK YOU first! My wife and I checked out of the Apex Waterloo Palace, March 4th. In our rush to catch an airplane, my wife neglected to remember several pieces of jewelry, of financial and sentimental value, which had been secured in the room safe. (Yes...I neglected to remind her to check the safe... as well.) Upon arrival in Ireland, we noted the loss and immediately contacted the Apex Waterloo. The Concierge Alan Brown checked the room and recovered the jewelry. He accounted for the property and forwarded it to a courier. The courier in turn insured and shipped the property to our residence. We are most grateful to the Apex staff and specifically to Concierge Alan Brown. We have found them to be most worthy of trust and confidence.

We stayed at the Apex Waterloo during a quick, three day stop in Edinburgh. The hotel is extremely well located for access to central Edinburgh and other major attractions. We were greeted by a friendly efficient staff and because we had not reserved breakfast we were offered a discounted cooked to order Scottish breakfast each morning for 10 pound. Our room, located on the 10th floor rear, had a limited view of various roof tops but we we're not in Edinburgh to look out the windows. The room was contemporarily furnished, clean and orderly.
Bed and bath linen were very nice and the bed was comfortable. The bath had an excellent rain fall type shower. 42" flat screen television and wi-fi were in available. The room was very quiet.

There was a limited continental breakfast available but the cooked to order breakfast was served hot and was an ample portion. The morning breakfast hours are crowded but breakfast is served until 10AM.

We did not have dinner in the hotel but asked Concierge Alan for a quick recommendation. He pointed us to Howies several doors up the street. An excellent recommendation.

We will be sure to return to Edinburgh, the Apex Waterloo and their stellar employee Concierge Alan Brown.

Room Tip: A quiet room is 1014, 10th floor rear.

I have stopped at this hotel before and I have got to say I was slightly disappointed this time round. I was stopping in Edinburgh with my mother which we have done every year for the last 15 years, so over this time we have stopped at various hotels. We booked the same type of room as last time a superior twin with breakfast. The room itself was fine, clean, tidy and spacious but what was really annoying was we were completely overlooked by a office block. In fact we were almost that close you could put your hand out of the window and reach a coffee cup from the desk. Granted we were not in the room much during the day but we could see everybody working. I had no fault with the room itself and the free treats such as jelly beans and pringles was a nice touch. The bathroom was massive with a separate shower and huge bath. and the fluffy bathrobes were lovely. The main issues was night time, I found the bed and pillows very uncomfortable and got very little sleep during my 4 night stay, returning from my holiday feeling very tired instead of feeling refreshed and relaxed which is not good.

Breakfast was fine with a good selection of cereal, fruits and Danish pastries etc. Cooked breakfasts were made to order which I prefer rather than buffet style as it tends to be hotter, although my mother did have to send her scrambled eggs on toast back as they were cold, but these were changed with no hassle and returned piping hot. The location of this hotel makes it ideal to tour the city centre but unfortunately I'm not sure I would return to this hotel.

This is a nice hotel in a good central location. This rooms are ok but avoid eating dinner here. The portions are for people that have no appetite and the selections are totally over priced. The dinner menu really leaves this hotel down . That is also evidenced by the fact that nobody was in the restaurant. Eat dinner in one of the many local restaurants that are far better.
