“Great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2012

Hotel is in brilliant location close to shops and places of interest. Second stay in this hotel the only problem was this time the room had no bath which I prefer. Staff all good, breakfast is self serve cereal etc. anything cooked is served very quickly in a few mins.

Room Tip: If you prefer a quiet room avoid the front of the hotel

Great hotel in the city centre. Room was lovely, clean, bright and had plenty of space. It was also pretty quiet for being in the centre of town (and considering we live in the country and are used to NO noise). The staff were all really friendly and helpful. Two minutes walk to the shops on Princes St and close to the bridge over to the Royal Mile etc for all the sight-seers. Will definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: We took an executive room which we felt was worth the extra wee bit for a bit more space.

We booked our honeymoon break here and had their duplex suite. We had a bit of a nightmare booking the room with the staff but got resolved in the end.
On arrival we were very impressed with the room, champers on ice, flowers, they were all waiting for us. The suite itself was great. Minor grumble, the bose sound system didnt have aerial, so no radio and the batteries were flat in the tv remote upstairs, which took a few days to get replaced.
The bed is massive, the bathroom and shower room are luxury, certainly a place to go away for a treat.

The negatives, well the restaurant food and staff are poor. We had a meal included in the package, and it was poor, infact if i had paid for it i would have sent it back. The Lamb chops had more bone than meat, on all 3 of them. We didnt even get offered coffee or desert and after waiting 15 mins we got up to leave.

Breakfast is a manic and again the staff do very little to make you welcome but the breakfast was good thou.

They have a great indoor pool and massure who did beauty treatments, My wife really enjoyed thoses.

Check out, more issues again staff related, which sums this hotel up.

Overall its a great hotel, but the poor food and staff leave prevent it being somthing special. Having been to the balmoral and seeing how their staff perform, then these guys should go and visit and see the difference.

Very central, lovely staff, very welcome upgrade to tenth floor with good view of the city.
Good leisure facilities, great breakfast. Very modern interior in a lovely old building.
Will stay again on next visit to friends.

For our first time in Edinburgh we booked this hotel and when we return we will stay here again! Our flight in was delayed and did not arrive until 9:30pm on a Sunday night we quickly dropped off our bags and the concierge was a huge help in finding us a restaurant that was still opened and it was a great recommendation!
Our room was very spacious with a huge bathroom. The hotel is located just a few blocks from the Royal Mile and not too far from Edinburgh Castle.
This staff at the Apex Waterloo is beyond outstanding!! My wife and I were taking a multi-city trip throughout Ireland and the UK. I placed money in our safe and forgot about it before we left. As I sat on the train panicking heading towards London I quickly emailed the staff and they got every cent of the money and overnighted it to us in London! I can't say enough about the staff's generosity!
Overall this hotel is a great value and in a superb location! A must stay!

Stayed here for the weekend, great central location, reception staff were lovely and extremely helpful. We particularly liked the bar and the superb bellinis. Room was large, clean and well-equipped. Separate shower and bath were very good. We were on the side that faces an alley and a night club but although there was some noise we were high enough that it was NOT an issue. Had breakfast one morning - extremely small portion of scrambled egg and smoked salmon. Thought it was not worth the 15STG. Free wifi and good coverage through out.
