Very modern & minimalist. We had room 106 which had a huge semi-circular window (the second one in the photos). The room was very noisy with traffic noise and revellers in the early hours of the morning. - very noisy. We requested another room and the hotel moved us with no problems – however, the new room was on the third floor, but still at the front of the hotel – so only marginally better. So if you are a light sleeper request a room at the rear.

The rooms were a reasonable size and clean. The furniture was minimal – only one bed-side table for example.

Food was good – Breakfast was self service buffet and the food was replenished promptly. We had one evening meal in hotel - quite good - a bit nouveau cuisine - although the steak was large, but only four large chips!

The hotel is within reasonable walking distance of The Castle, The Royal Mile & Princess Street.

Check-in and Check-out were handled efficiently.

We would have rated the Hotel at "Above Average" but for the noise.

Myself and my girlfriend stayed at the Point Hotel for a long weekend, and I'd recommend it to anybody. The Hotel itself is very modern, and whilst I can see that the design statement might not appeal to everybody, we loved it. The staff were very friendly and helpfull, and they took time to direct us to bars and restaurants we might like. The location was good too. In under 10 minutes walk you can be on Princes St or the Royal Mile. Some people complained about the lap dancing bars nearby, but they just weren't an issue. In short, I'd definitely go back to the Point.

Stayed in this hotel for a long weekend and found it to be very nice. Staff on the desk were very helpful with organising Taxis, giving directions, etc. Beautiful view from our bedroom of the Castle. Everything was clean and I love when hotels put duvets on the beds instead of heavy blankets. They could do with upgrading the taps and shower head but that is really nit picking now. Nice breakfast too.

I was a bit apprehensive about booking after reading the reviews but since we had always wanted to stay there since it was converted we decided to take a chance while the price was right.
The hotel was clean and bright. The bedroom was immaculate and comfortable. The breakfast substantial with a varied selection.Checking in and out was completely hassle free.
It's a little bit different from most hotels but none the worse for that.
If you are looking for chintz it's not for you but personally I wouldn't hesitate to return.
One last thing-this is NOT a seedy area.Yes there are a few sauna parlours and lap dancing bars nearby but this being Edinburgh they are not intrusive.

The hotel is nicely designed and clean, and the friendly staff were very helpful with any questions we had. The room was large and the bed enormous and comfy. We were at the back of the hotel and the room was very quiet when we were there. The only fault with the room was the shower - the tap was extremely stiff - and I doubt that had an older person been staying in the room they would have been able to turn it off.

The bar is worth checking out, we didn't eat in the restaurant but it looked to be fairly good value.

The hotel is very close to the main tourist points - particularly the Castle and Princes Street for shopping. I would certainly be happy to stay there again.
