We chose to stay at The Point for a weekend away and found it to be a great place to stay. The location is really central, and we had a great room overlooking the Castle. The room was a bit strange because there was a black lacquer sliding door separating the bedroom from the living area (which had the window, a sofa and the TV, so we couldn't watch TV in bed, but was quite an interesting feature!). The room was very clean, though the bathroom was a bit shabby and there was a dripping tap. But that wasn't a problem, and we could deal with a shabby bathroom in exchange for such a great view and interesting surroundings.
The hotel is fascinating, the corridors are massive spaces with geometric patterns, and the reception is really bright and open. The reception staff were really friendly and fantastic and were happy to give us an early check in and store our bags for the day after we'd checked out.
Some tips: If you turn left when you come out the hotel you'll come to a big road with a cinema, and lots of really nice homely restaurants (I had both the best Chinese meal and the best Italian meal of my life on that road!). It's only a few minutes walk into the centre of town. I'd read that the hotel is surrounded by lap dancing bars, "massage" parlours, etc - that is true, but it really isn't a problem. It isn't a threatening area at all, and we weren't kept awake by any of the noise outside - another bonus of the sliding door separating the bed from the window!
Also, if you want to catch a bus to the airport there is a special airport bus about 5/10 minutes walk away from the hotel. The reception staff were happy to direct us, and were keen that we didn't waste money on a taxi when the bus stop was so near and took the same amount of time.
We didn't eat dinner at the hotel, but had breakfast there both mornings, and though we had to queue for a long time the first morning to get a table, we overcame this the second day by getting up a bit earlier. Breakfast was lovely, a massive selection of cooked breakfast, croissants, cereals, everything you could want really. Also, we had some interesting cocktails in the hotel bar next door.
We had a really great stay and would definitely stay there again.
