My Husband and I have just returned from our 2 night stay at the hotel and we couldn't have been more pleased with our choice of hotel. The hotel has a very modern look and feel to it..borderline boutique i'd say, the decor of the hotel bar and our room was very contemporary. The staff were really polite and attentive even at extremely busy times such as breakfast. The late cut off time of breakfast is a godsend after a night on the tiles, and the hotel bar is bang on the money, prices are comparative to London or in fact any city. The bed was the most comfortable bed ever with the exception of the bed in our hotel on honeymoon (and that's saying something!)
Don't let the mention of the local lapdancing bars put you off, they are hardly next door and unless you go looking you might never even see them!
We will most definately be returning to The Point as for us location wise it was ideal and less noisy than it's bigger competitors..and theres a lot left for us to see and do.

I have seen a lot of reviews for this place mostly good, but some not so good.

I thought it was very impressive, especially as I only paid £74 for a double room including full cooked breakfast.

Check in was very easy and we were able to leave our bags in a secure area after arriving on an early flight.

The room (313) was spacious with sofa, flatscreen tv, tea and coffee making facilities, large windows with a castle view and the most comfortable bed ever.

The en suite was a wet room with a powerful shower. Only slight downsides were the sink was small and low down and the shower room made the windows steam up in the bedroom!

Breakfast was good with a choice of cereals, toast, croissants and a full fry up buffet style.

Yes there are a couple of lap dancing bars nearby and yes the corridors are a bit strange but it is 10 minutes from the castle and Princess Street, the airport bus drops off about 5 minbutes away.

All in all I would definitely recommend to others.

I am a Scottish exile, living in Hertfordshire. I recently took a wheelchairbound friend to Edinburgh as she had never been to Scotland. We stayed two nights in The Point last week and I feel compelled to write this report.

I cannot praise this hotel highly enough. From our check in to our check out, the staff were unfailingly polite and helpful. Our room was absolutely spot on for my friend, and her wheelchair!, and staff told me that they had been helped with the restructure of it by a wheelchairbound resident so they could get it right. Such attention to detail did not surprise me actually. To cap it off, we had a stunning castle view. The breakfasts were awesome and the food in the bar superb. There was a lovely atmosphere.

My friend and I were blown away by the entire experience. I travel extensively with my husband and would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone, wheelchairbound or not.

Myself and my husband have just come back from 3 nights in the Point from the 15 to the 18th and we were very happy with Edinburgh and with the Point. The location is great very near the Castle and the Royal Mile, as mentioned in other reviews there are a lot of lap dancing bars near the hotel but it didn't really bother me, it's not like you are looking out at them from your hotel room. We had a good view of the castle from the room but there are rooms with a much better view, this is just the luck of the draw though. The breakfast was great and gave you a great choice and is served until 11 at the weekends which is very handy, you don't have to drag yourself up too early. The bar serves great cocktails and we ate there 2 nights and the food was lovely, we did not stay in the bar too much though as it is usually pretty quite and also we wanted to try out other pubs. The staff are lovely too very obliging and friendly. I have to say the bed was one of the most comfortable beds we have ever stayed in they are lovely and big. All in all it was a great stay and I would definately recommend the Point for a stay in Edinburgh, next time we travel to Edinburgh we will stay there.

My husband and I stayed at the Point Hotel for 2 nights to celebrate his birthday. We both were really impressed with the hotel. The location is good, within short walking distance to all the main attractions. The decor is pleasing to the eye, modern and stylish. Our room was spacious with a fabulous view of the castle. It contained a large, comfy bed and a big leather sofa, wardrobe and desk. The bathroom was clean and simple, the water pressure is very strong and hot. Take your own toiletries. Breakfast is very nice, buffet style with everything you could want, full cooked breakfast or pastries. The staff are very pleasant and attentive. The hotel also has a modern bar. I booked this hotel direct with the hotel using their website, I found this to be the best rate- £69 per night inc breakfast, which I consider to be excellent value for money. Great stay all round, I'd recommend this hotel to anyone.
