We stayed at the hotel over this past weekend. Our room was fantastic, and far more stylish and well-appointed than I would have expected for a hotel in this price range - things like the lovely bed linen were a real treat when compared to what is on offer in most hotels these days. All the staff we dealt with were friendly and obliging. The bar was brilliant, and we spent a lot of time there!

I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay there any time I return to Edinburgh.

  • Liked — Stylish interiors; fantastic, friendly staff; cool hotel bar.
  • Disliked — Difficulty get a waitress's attention at breakfast - hard to order off a la carte menu as a result.

The location of this hotel is very convenient for many of the city centre sights; Princes Street, the Castle and the National Museum of Scotland are all within 15 minutes stroll. The hotel is decorated and furnished in a contemporary style. Our (double) bedroom was very comfortable with a super view of the Castle. Bathroom was well appointed and had a bathtub with shower over. The buffet breakfast was OK. Our only gripe was that on the second day, we returned to our room mid-afternoon (around 3:30) to find it had not been serviced. The maid arrived shortly after and we asked if we wanted it to be done then. We declined, but accepted the offer of fresh towels, etc. Most staff were friendly and helpful. Overall a good experience and good value for money (booked directly off the hotel's own website). I shall certainly consider this hotel for our next visit to Edinburgh.

Myself and a friend stayed here for one night at the end of August. When we were checking in, we realised we had got the twin room for just over half the price of the standard rate, on lastminute.com. It's in a nice location, right beside the hotel and maybe 5-10 mins walk from Princes St (the main shopping thoroughfare in Edinburgh).

We weren't expecting to be given the nicest room in the hotel because of this, but the guy at reception was very nice and gave us a recently refurbished room with a view of the castle!

Rooms are lovely, quite large and furnished in a modern, minimal style. There was an LCD TV on the wall which actually had a very good selection of digital channels, which isn't always the case in hotels. There was wifi in the room (although it is charged for, but free in the lobby), a hairdryer and tea/coffee facilities. Unfortunately there was no mini-bar.

The beds were very comfortable and extremely clean, with lots of pillows and a cushion, and expensive looking bedclothes.

Bathroom was great, a shower with great water pressure, and lovely soft towels and nice shower gels, soaps and moisturisers.

We didn't eat at the hotel as we had an early start, but checking out was quick and pleasant.

All in all, I would definitely stay at the point hotel again.

  • Liked — It was very stylish and clean
  • Disliked — No parking, although they do offer 20% discount in the local multistory which is only £5 for overnight parking.

We choose Point because it was very close to the Usher Hall where we were to attend the international festival. Also, the location of the hotel is very near to the Royal Mile and Princces Street. The room was in the fourth floor and had beautiful Castle views. It was well decorated in a modern style, and the bed and bathroom too good.

The staff at reception were quite kind and the breakfast above average.

Point is a good choice to stay in Edimburgh.

I stayed at the Point in December 2006 for two nights, and was a little apprehensive about it after reading some of the bad reviews on here, but trust me when i say they couldn't be more wrong!

My boyfriend and i received a free upgrade to an executive room, the room was spotless, as was the bathroom, and i thought the decor was great! It made a refreshing change from the typical 'tartan' decor you would usually find in Edinburgh. The staff were extremely helpful, allowing us to check out a few hours later, and able to answer any questions we had. The location of the hotel is ideal, within walking distance of some lovely restaurants and bars, and of course Princes Street.

All in all i throroughly enjoyed this break in Edinburgh, and i doubt that would have been the case if it wasn't for this fantastic hotel!

  • Liked — The Huge bed!
  • Disliked — The fact i couldn't stay longer!
