My boyfriend and i chose this hotel over other cheaper hotels in the area mainly for the breakfast as we had read such amazing reviews of it on the hotel website and on Trip Advisor!
The hotel website describes the breakfast as:
Selection of Fruit Juices
Selection of Cereals, Muesli, Yoghurts and Fresh Fruit
Full Scottish Breakfast
Grilled Bacon, Grilled Pork Sausage, Haggis, Tomato, Egg (fried, poached or scrambled), Potato Scone, Beans and Mushrooms
Toast with Marmalade and Preserves
(choice of white, wholemeal or seeded)
We came down for it this morning and were served the cereals and toast however there was no sign of any hot food.
We enquired why and the guy in charge was very vague,he told us there used to be a hot breakfast but there isn't any more. When I reminded him that the hotel information book in the room details the above breakfast and it was partly why we chose the hotel he told us he was just filling in for a friend as the owners have gone off at very short notice to a family wedding in Oxford (tomorrow is New Year's Eve) Also the management walked out leaving no one to run the place so he was filling in.
If this is true I can not understand why the owners wouldn't have contacted guests to tell them of this change in circumstances and offer a partial refund.
We asked for the owners mobile number to ask for a better explanation but the guy refused to give that to us. I am posting on here in the hope of getting an explanation from the owner!
It seems such a shame as clearly something has gone very wrong in a hotel that had such a good reputation previously!
