This is a very good guest house. It is set in a lovely, early Victorian house, so the public rooms have high ceilings and period features. It is on a bus route, and the centre of the Old Town is a 30-minute walk away. The bedroom was 4* hotel standard, with a 6ft wide bed. The bathroom was well-appointed, though the hot water in the shower was erratic if other people were using their showers. The breakfast was the best I have ever had in a guest house - a very wide choice, with specialities like French toast with cinammon and maple syrup, salmon and cream cheese with bagels, as well as the usual fare. It would have been nice to have had fruit salad, but that seems a minor point. There was a public sitting-room, and this had free internet access (you could also use your own laptop in your room) and an honesty bar. The owners were unfailingly poilte and helpful. The only downside was that you could hear noise from other rooms, and the bowling (green) club behind the house was hosting a very noisy party one night. Apart from this, it was a very good place, and I would certainly stay here again if I was in Edinburgh.
