We had a third floor room which was large but basic. It seems to have been converted into a Travelodge as cheaply as possible. The location is ok - we walked to Princes Street. It was also quiet at night. Stay here if you want value for money but not if you want luxury.

We required 1 night stay in Haymarket area of Edinburgh on Sun 5th October 2008. Booked this online thro their own site@ £32 for room only (double), Room 103. Could order Breakfast for £7.50. Bar & cafe onsite. Staff welcoming, Derek great company as night staff, only been there 1 month. Beautiful building with all cornicing, wood panelling therefore very high ceilings. Big enough room, blackout blinds, good size bath/shower room. All modern. We had a bit of a nosiy problem from room upstairs with we think 2 families with young kids, running & jumping off beds, therefore the chandiler in our room kept make a noise, we had to go down to reception to complain, sorted. Good complimetnary tray i.e. tea,coffe etc. We had a good few drinks back at hotel at night, 1 staff (guyindian/pakistani) said the draught carlsberg was off, he told an untruth as we discovered later when other staff, Derek came through. As bottled beer etc is more expensive, beware. We got to sample the snack food, Tikka Massala lovely. Yes would stay again. Parking a BIG problem.

Really nice hotel, decorated and styled as all the other Travelodge hotels are.

The staff were friendly and helpful, the location is quite and costs approximately £5 - £10 by taxi from Edinburgh Waverly train station. The nearest train station is Edinburgh Haymarket which took us around 5 minutes to walk to.

You can walk into the Centre of Edinburgh in around 15-20 minutes at a normal pace/walking speed.

We had a very large room that was clean and quiet.

The breakfast was slightly disappointing and I'd say expensive for the quality of food but otherwise a really nice hotel in a good location.

As this hotel had recently re-opened as a Travelodge, it was the ONLY place where we were able to book a room for the Edinburgh Tattoo. We had used this hotel several times in previous years when it was the Green's Hotel and we have always been impressed with the character and decoration of the hotel and the meals were excellent. We used to enjoy a full Dinner, Bed & Breakfast there for around £50 per room per night and even £65 per night for Bed & Full breakfast was better than the rip-off Travelodge were charging at £99 for room only. No toiletries, bath mat or even a coat hook behind the bathroom door. Basic tea/coffee making facilities but no biscuits and the floors creaked everywhere you walked - I would have thought Travelodge would have at least seen to that particluar problem when they refurbished. Travelodge have totally removed all the character from the place - bare white walls with not even a welcoming pot plant in the reception area. Unless I was absolutely desperate and the room rate was half what we paid, I won't be going back nor recomment it to anyone else.
