This is one of the newest members of Travelodge and opened in Dec 2007. This is a conversion in a Georgian terrace and the builders were almost finished. Also the builders are working in the property next door, so there was some noise at 8.00am but we were told this would finish soon. Our room had a flat window and was smaller than the usual Travelodge size. Some rooms have a bay window and are obviously larger. I know Travelodge have a policy of keeping "frills" to a minimum, but I am pleased our stay was only 2 nights. The walls were pale grey, with white bed linen and not Travelodge's usual colour scheme, so the room looked bland. The furniture was dark mahogany. There was no light over the dressing table mirror, and no electric plug there for the kettle. The plugs seemed to be in an odd position for the layout of the room. No tray is provided for the kettle and cups and the table top is already marked from hot cups. The bathroom was tiny. There was no towel rail or any door hooks, so how do we hang towels up to dry? There was no shelf for toiletries. I also found it awkward to squeeze beside the toilet to reach the bath taps. I think a little more attention needs to be given to details. This place was certainly "cheap and cheerful" as there are rooms at only £29 per night and that has got to be a bargain in a beautiful capital city
However the staff were very friendly and helpful. This hotel is very convenient for Haymarket station - about 5-10 mins walk. Princes Street is about 15-20 mins walk and there are buses from the main road.
