“The Cotton Mill restaurant is well worth a visit!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2011

*This is solely a review on the Cotton Mill Restaurant attached to the hotel. I had to review it here as it's not got it's own listing. All ratings are for the RESTAURANT*

Having passed this Premier Inn on many occasions, we were looking for somewhere to get a meal before heading to the cinema a short distance away and thought we'd give it a try. What a little gem! (Have been back twice since) Nicely laid out so that you don't feel you are crammed in even when busy yet retaining a cosy feel, it was clean and welcoming.
Have now been when it was quiet, moderately busy & almost full, and on each occasion each member of staff was welcoming, polite and attentive. Like many of these places, you order firstly at the bar but you can then order drinks and more food at your table. On each occasion we were served promptly and, even when busy, staff remained pleasant and helpful. A real credit.
The menu is probably what you would expect from a chain, but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality. It's not often that the food you get actually looks BETTER than the pic on the menu! Freshly cooked, piping hot and just the right portion size. Couldn't fault it. Had a nosey at what other diners were having and everything looked really good. Prices are excellent value. We plan many more visits!

Stayed here at short notice for the two days before Christmas due to family illness. Place was spotless. Staff very friendly, accomodating and cheerful even though they were working Christmas!
We were impressed with the choice in the eat all you can breakfasts in the pub next door and thought it was very good value for money. Didn't eat in the restaurant at night as we were eating with family so can't comment on this. Overall this experience was enjoyable and good value for money. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Only stayed 1 night, speedy check-in with pleasant reception staff. Due to limited choice had evening meal in The Brewers Fayre, good meal @ 2 for £9, speedy service and food hot and on hot plates. Plenty of staff, drinks served quickly at the table with meal. Had fairly early breakfast as needed to be away quickly, Manageress on duty very nice, greeted us with a cheery good morning, good buffet selection which she kept well topped up, served hot breakfast items as requested. It was well cooked and nicely presented. The Manageress seemed for a time to be the only staff on duty in pub, but the service didn't suffer because of this as she was extremely efficient. Overall impressed with both the room which was clean and warm with a comfy bed, and the pub which served good food. A very good Premier Inn for an overnight stop.

never actually stayed in hotel this evening but have done in past before moving to area.decided to have meal their tonight as we were impressed with look of the place but to our disappointment the Cottom Mill restaraunt was a let down. Starters were adequate but waited half hour or so for table to be cleared then another 20 minutes or so for main course to be served.Told that some of the fish had fell on floor but chef was cooking fresh pieces,(we ordered the fish platter).what was first put down to us was cold so inedible and by time we hatd to leave the freshly cooked fish was still not served. Staff were friendly enough but perhaps a liitle too inexperienced to deal with such a volume of customers even although they were not that busy.

Stayed here on our way to the island of Arran as it is only a few miles from where the ferry departs. The hotel was unexciting but perfectly good enough for a one night stay and we would probably consider it again if we passed that way. The Cotton Mill Restuarant next door was an altogether different prospect. They were not very busy that evening but the staff appeared leaderless, not knowing what to do next. We waited ages to be served at the drinks bar, with many relatively young staff members milling around behind not really doing much. When we became totally fed up waiting, we queued at the separate tills to order food. The young chap served the man in front of me and then without a word wandered off and started wiping down tables, leaving me to join yet another queue! When the food eventually arrived it was pretty awful. My pie had really hard pastry and tough meat (the meat through undercooking) and my wife's lasagne was so overdone, it had shrivelled away from the sides of its dish.

one of the best rooms i have ever stayed in !. If on honeymoon i would have been delighted. On entering the room , I was taken aback by the perfectly ironed bed coverings , the spotlessness of the décor , and a very good flat screen TV , Excellent lighting . The staff who were friendly and helpful told me i was staying in a recent addition/extension to the hotel. Only one gripe , that was between my room and the restaurant was a patch of ground totally unkempt , shame !
