Stayed overnight on a recent trip up to Scotland. We were welcomed by Irene, the housekeeper who was the old member of staff that we did see. She seemed to do everything including cooking a very good breakfast the next morning.
Our room was spacious and clean but the en-suite was minute and the hot water tap did not work so we had to pull the shower hose across to fill the washbasin. The electric kettle had a mind of its own and worked intermittently so it took ages to boil enough water to make a cup of tea. There is little in the way of restaurants within walking distance but we did manage to find a very interesting pub which is apparently frequented by the Dundee Rugby team players and their manager. It was full of sports memorabilia and had a cosy atmosphere. Unfortunately the kitchens closed at 8.30pm so we were too late to get something to eat and the only other alternative was an Indian which we didn't like the look of so after a quick drink we made our way back to the B&B for an early night as we had driven several hundred miles that day.
The bed was huge but the mattress was lumpy and the pillows hard so we didn't get the good night's sleep we were hoping for. However, the breakfast was good and there was plenty of it.
Probably wouldn't stay again as there are far nicer B&B's in Scotland. Irene also informed us that the owner was in the process of selling the property.
