“WORST INDIAN MEAL EVER”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2014

I chose this restaurant because of its proximity to Dundee Rep Theatre and because of the Trip Advisor reports which at that time, just after Christmas, had nothing but Excellent or Very Good reviews. Now, just how this restaurant managed to abtain these reviews, is a complete mystery to me. I arrived expecting great things, Very quickly my great expectations were dashed, (demolished would be more appropriate). The staff : they all seemed like complete novices, as if they had no training for, or understanding of what it means to be serving in a restaurant. The food : Never have I or my party ever had such a bad Indian or Bangladeshi meal, and I mean never. My starter was a burned offering tasting of nothing but salt. The main course was absolutely dreadful, and it looked like rubbish and tasted like rubbish. The price would have been alright for a nice meal, but this was like pig-swill. The ladies' toilet is unmentionable.
Whoever owns or runs this restaurant appears to have no experience whatsover in the restaurant business, and my best advice is that they should go back to whatever they did before, surely they were better at that whatever it was.

“Poor Quality Food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2014

Was really looking forward to trying this new Bangladeshi restaurant, especially since a few favourite dishes (Pathan chicken, Methi Gosht, etc) were on the menu. Unfortunately we were really disappointed with the quality of the food. The curry was very oily and although it had lots of kick, it didn't taste lick it had been cooked fresh on-site. The chicken tikka was tough and almost squeaky! I'm not sure if it was actually cooked in a tandoor or if it was just covered in a marinade, but it wasn't tender.

Disappointingly, even the rice was undercooked! I can see what they're aiming for with the naan breads, which weren't the usual tandoor style breads. They looked similar to those served in Dil Se; round and oven baked, but they just tasted like normal bread! Also, there was a strong flavour of yeast from them so I can only guess they don't leave the breads to prove for long enough. They were over baked and too tough on the outside, with uncooked dough in the middle.

Sadly I don't think we'll be rushing back, such a shame as I really wanted to like this place.

“Ka-poor, ka-poor, ka-poor.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014 via mobile

From the first mouthful to the last, this gastronomic experience was decidedly below par.

Service was slow - albeit friendly - and communication between floor and kitchen was sloppy at best.

Starters were average and our main meals, when they finally arrived, were comparable to a microwave curry from Lidl.

We asked for our cash back and got it - the only saving grace.

Avoid.
