The exterior of this purpose built hotel makes it look like a 1970's office block and gives a very poor initial impression, which is soon forgotten upon walking inside. The rooms are of a very high standard, the leisure facilities are very good, and the bar area has more atmosphere than most hotels.
Whilst the breakfast was excellent, the evening meal in the Alchemy restaurant was slightly let down by small portions, and slow, inattentive service ( the waitress had little knowledge of the food being served when asked, and when our wine glasses were empty we ended up pouring our own wine because she was elsewhere) .
Overall, the Apex City Quay is a great hotel and I think few visitors would find themselves disappointed.
