“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

The only fault was the expensive car park, maybe it is to put off shoppers. But the whole visit was greatly enjoyed by us all.
The staff are most welcoming and even the toilets are child friendly plus there is a good reasonably priced cafe on site.
The walk around the ship follows lots of informative films and exhibits with plenty of hands on tasks for little hands. The children were very excited by the ship and had a great time above and below decks.
This attraction is well worth a visit and allow for longer than you might think. Plus it is twinned with the Verdant Works which is also very informative about Dundee and the jute trade.

“Well worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

Visited the Discovery yesterday, and the weather even played it's part by putting on a snow flurry when we came out from the indoor displays to go around the Discovery herself. Very interesting and informative 'museum', easy to take in the information about this wonderful ship and her crew.

“What a good visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

We came upon this attraction after bad weather caused a change of plans. What a facinating insight into polar travel. First the film and display area including how the Discovery was built to stand up to Antartic conditions then to get aboard for an excellent walk around the ship, left to ones self, to explore all the below decks and above decks area. The presentation was first class and being ajacent to the river in an easterly gale it gave the visit a real feeling of life on board. Not to be missed.

“Don't miss this”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

I have lived near Dundee all my life and it is only after 34 years that I finally made it to Discovery point. What a find it was but I wish I'd been here earlier.

The centre has a really good display with interesting displays. However, it is once you get onto the boat that it gets fascinating. It is brilliantly done to recreate what life would have been like on the boat and once you add on all the history it is awesome.

I took my 5 year old and she loved it not least because she got a pirate hat to wear!!

To begin with you walk through areas that show how, who and why the Discovery was built. Who the crew were. Also about the Antartic exploration side of things. Then eventually you get to go on board!!! There is a film one can watch if you are unable to go below decks, which will show what you could have seen, good idea for anyone to watch, then you know certain things to look out for. Well laid out, easy too understand and interesting. You can buy a combined ticket for the Verdant Works in Dundee also, which is worth a visit.
