we stayed at the swallow and quite enjoyed ourselves.
the food was pretty good and the staff were pleasant.
the gym was excellent, but a little dated, however the view of the grounds and the rabbits grazing made it worth while, the pool was pretty good too, but wasn't impressed with the spa and changing room facilities, they were dated and in need of refurbishment.
the room was disappointing, bland and a bit like a motel, but clean and tidy, couldn't really complain about anything.
to me, it seemed more like a hotel you'd stop on the way to somewhere for just one night.

Nice hotel, good food and excellent value for money, offered good facilities but unfortunately on our stay ( of one night only, for a speacial occasion ) we had to be let into our room by reception staff as the key was not available at the time of check in. We were assured that we would have the key in 20 minutes!! To cut a long story short we missed a booking we had in Dundee at 4pm as we still had no key, we were unable to use the facilities as we had no access back to our room except by troubling the busy reception staff. And to top it all we had to go out for the evening still with no key but the assurance of the staff that the key would be available on our return. NOT IDEAL!! On our return at past midnight.......... Yes no key!! The message had not been passed on to the night staff, Iwas advised to speak to the day staff. I did this and yes an apology was made but no offer of any discount!!! Totally unacceptable and spoilt what was supposed to a perfect weekend away for a very special occasion.

For the price its acceptable (but make sure you ask for a discounted rate). The Swallow is in a very good location, nice garden, plenty of space with very easy access. But it needs a lot of work on it before it becomes somewhere that I would want to go back to.

Easy to find, lovely part of the country. Food excellent. Hotel could do with some refurbishment, but nice swimming pool and sauna. Good parking.
