“Gone downhill!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013 via mobile

We live locally and used to visit at least fortnightly and loved the food and friendly staff. We haven't been for about 6 months and decided to visit yesterday with our 2 yr old for lunch. They weren't busy but it took 40 minutes after ordering for our food to arrive which proved difficult to keep our little one occupied. We had ordered fish fingers, chicken burger and mozzarella and pesto burger so nothing which should have taken so long! My husband's burger arrived without the ordered bacon which was pointed out to the waiter. He was offered for some to be brought out but due to the length of time we waited, this was declined. 5 minutes later the waiter returned to check that my husband didn't want the bacon as we would be paying for it. We declined again and stated we wouldn't expect to pay for something we never had. I have to say the waiter's attitude was not pleasant which is not what we are used to experiencing. When we went to pay, sure enough we had been charged for the bacon. After a few noises indicating they weren't happy, they took it off our bill.

The food was ok but not the usual good standard and the friendly staff appear to have left. Speaking to others we knew in the restaurant our joint view was the Bell Tree has gone downhill. What a shame as it has always been a great place and handy. We won't be rushing back!

“Expensive pub grub.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

Very average meal heard so many good reports that I was disappointed .
Cod & chips is actually pollock but still get charged for cod. Mushy peas were dry.
Whole tail scampi was grey mush and no were near whole tail as described on menu.
Presentation of food very average. Staff were friendly enough.
Don't think I will be rushing back.

“Excellent Food And Friendly Service !!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

We dined here 2 nights during the May bank holiday while staying at the Premier Inn next door, the restaurant was extremely busy on the Sunday the manager and staff coped extremely well and we only waited 10 mins and were given a seat while waiting. Meals on both nights were excellent and we were served quickly by the friendly staff, prices are very reasonable and food was excellent and large portions. Hope to dine here again when we visit Premier Inn later in the year.

“Good food, slow service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

Been here a few times with my elderly parents. Food choice is very good with large portions, but service was very slow. The servers came back to ask us if we wanted more drinks and is everything ok...4 Times.....before before we had even received our food. Saying that though, would still recommend and will be returning. Speed up the service please.

“Excellent Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 27, 2013

We had an excellent dinner here while staying at The Premier Inn next door. I had shoulder of lamb and mash and it melted in the mouth and my cheese cake was wonderful. My husband had a rare steak which he said was cooked perfectly and an Amaretto Coffee which he said was lovely. We had a bottle of Pino Greigio rose wine too and the bill was under £49 which I thought was good value especially as we had £30 of Tesco Tokens to use there.
