For the second time running my wife and I were unable to eat at The Riverside Inn as web we're told when we entered that they only had two tables left. Looking around the restaurant we saw that there were only half a dozen or tables with people at them! The only table we were allowed was in the doorway so we declined and went elsewhere.
This is the second time in a matter of 2 or 3 weeks that this has happened and it always seems to happen on a Tuesday or Wednesday night after 6pm.
I could understand being turned away if the restaurant was full but the place was almost empty! Friends of ours have also experienced the same issues with this restaurant and it seems they don't have enough staff to cope with more than half a dozen tables of customers.
If this is the case then why bother opening? We have visited The Maltings in Perth during week days and they have no problem accommodating customers, and it's part of the same chain!
When we have ate at The Riverside Inn we have enjoyed the food but after not being able to get seated the last two times then we will probably not be back!
There are plenty of other restaurants in Dundee who do want business so I'd suggest looking elsewhere if you're wanting to eat during the week.
