“Like being a home....”

...except we slept better than we did at home! Stayed 2 nights in July whilst visiting friends. From the moment we arrived until we left early friday morning, we felt we were staying with friends. A great host with in a lovely home. The best part was the beds. They were huge and comfy. Looking forward to the next visit to Dundee. Thank you Richard.

Balgowan House is a real treasure. It is a great credit to our host Richie the rugby player who shows a great touch in respecting the integrity of Balgowan and in his restoring and furnishing of it. We loved the large bedroom overlooking the huge estuary and the public gardens below. Richie gave us great tips of places to visit on our road trip north, and places to eat. He is a mean breakfast cook with possibly the best black pudding we had in Scotland. We would be back in a flash and would spend much more time in Dundee!!!

If you are looking for luxury accommodation in a home from home setting instead of a sterile hotel environment then this is it. We received personal attention from the owner that made the stay so enjoyable - from arrangements to get into our room on the day of arrival, to information about the city etc that made the accommodation so much more homely than a hotel.

The room that we were allocated was at the rear of the building overlooking the garden of the home, then onto the Botannic Gardens and then out to the sea. The whole home was exceptionally quiet and peaceful. Car parking was provided off the road beside the house. The city centre was approximately one mile away.

The room itself was decorated and furnished to a very high quality, as was the ensuite bathroom - shower only, no bath. Breakfast was served in a large comfortable dining room. The only downside of the room was the free but poor wireless internet access.

The cost of the bed and breakfast is on a par with the upper end of nearby hotel accommodation. The quality of the room etc is superior to most hotels, the only downside being that the breakfast, although excellent, may not match a hotel buffet style breakfast. This would not in any way deter me from using this accommodation again.

The bed and breakfast is half way between the city centre and Ninewells Hospital, and is suitable for people requiring access to these areas. I have no hesitation in recommending this luxury accommodation in a quiet and peaceful city location.

We stayed at Balgowan House while dropping my son off at university. We had a lovely, comfortable room - very smartly decorated, with gorgeous views of the gardens and the River Tay beyond. We had a huge bathroom - again very smart.
Breakfasts were very relaxed in the comfortable dining room. I'd definitely recommend Balgowan House to anyone spending a few days in Dundee.

This stunning mansion offers probably the best view from the bedrooms of any hotel in the country- over the tay estuary, the rail bridge and across to fife with the rolling hills in the background. Add a red sunset and Wispy clouds.....

Beautifully decorated in a modern way which somehow manages to complement the period house, with large rooms and quality furnishings, I was delighted with my stay here. Free wifi was an added bonus.
