“Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013 via mobile

We went here as a Family of four, two adults, a two year old and a five year old. There wasn't much to really interact with the majority of stands were visual only and as we had young kids we thought it would be much better if there were some things for the younger kids to get there hands on.

Good points.

The place was clean.
The staff were friendly.

Bad points.

Not a great deal to do.
The price is fairly steep for what it is.
You have to pay additional parking outside the venue.

Thank you for your recent comments about Dundee Science Centre, all feedback is gratefully received. I am sorry to hear that the experience did not meet up to your expectations on this rare occasion. We endeavour to appeal to a wide audience on all ocassions from the ages of 4 upwards and offer a great range of shows, interactive experiments and a great staff line up to give you a great day. For the very young, we offer free of charge entry to under 4's. Unfortunately the car parking is council operated outside our venue and the prices are determined by Dundee City Council which we cannot change. If you want to discuss your day any further please do not hesitate to contact me on chris.ward@dundeesciencecentre.org.uk. Thank You

“Embrace the fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

Over the years I have visited the Centre with Granbairns, friend's children and even other adults because it is a fun place to go, a chance to test yourself on a variety of skills and learn new facts but YOU need to do it, no-one is going to come along, take you by the hand and do the tests for you - what would be the point? Last time I was there the exhibit was in a tent, I lay on the floor listening to an explanation about the stars while viewing them on the tent roof . Upstairs we all (3 adults, a teen and a 10yr old) competed against each other in a fascinating game. Lots of laughter. Now watching out to see what the exhibit is this winter. The clean and tidy café is spacious with an assortment of drinks and eats, toilets also clean. For what you get the entrance fee is very reasonable when compared to similar venues.

“Not worth it!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013 via mobile

I had a four year old child with me and a few hours to kill in Dundee. With it being a rainy day I thought we'd hit the science centre. Heavily disappointed at the run down tired place with not much to see and comparatively very expensive tickets! We had seen it all within 3/4 of an hour and left twiddling our thumbs. Even the canteen is a sad run down little eatery with nothing much to offer and cheap music blasting away in a corner!!
My mistake!

“Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

Took my 13 year old on his birthday. Whilst there are lots of levers to pull and buttons to press neither of us found it particularly inspiring and left feeling a little disappointed. It seemed a little tired and is probably on the whole more entertaining for slightly younger children. We did find the robotics section quite interesting but overall most exhibits required a little more depth behind the principle being demonstrated to keep older children and adults amused.

“great place for kids”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2013

If you have kids then this is a place worth visiting for them as they will enjoy the demonstrations, various interactive exhibits you can try out. Adults however may not enjoy it as it is geared primarily at kids but there is a cafe you can sit in and let the kids run around. I went with my mum mainly to see the myth and monsters exhibit (centre has a different temporary exhibit in one section for a few months at a time, the rest of the exhibits permanant ones that are always there). We decided (despite being 35 and 70) to get into the spirit and tried out all the interactive exhibit items and did enjoy ourselves. The myth and monster anamatronics models were impressive (the exhibit closing september 26th). The staff were very friendly and helpful, a couple of the exhibits not working while we were there. Worth checking out at least once.
