“A pleasant stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

We stayed at the Annandale on our way to Aberdeen. After a friendly greeting we were pleased with our room and the whole character of the hotel. There were loads of options for walks before dinner.
The meal was very enjoyable and was better than some restaurants with star rating. Breakfast was another pleasure.
We look forward to staying there again and will make sure our stay is longer.

Although we were staying in another hotel overnight, we decided to eat at the Annadale.
An exellent choice it was.
We visited the hotel in the afternoon and were met by Elaine the Manager, who welcomed us in and took the table reservation for the evening and served us with a malt in the bar and shared polite and inviting conversation with us.
In the evening we were again welcomed by Elaine and her lovely and courteous staff.
The meal we enjoyed was exceptional as was the service.
Later whilst enjoying a few drinks in the really comfortable lounge, Elaine invited us to look around the hotel. All in all the Annadale is an hotel well worth a visit and we would recommend it to our friends and family. Alhought it may not be the at the lower end, price wise, it is certainly great value and spotless and clean with very good rooms for a stay should you wish.

A major presence in Moffat's town square, this classic hotel has been tastefully modernised yet retains its previous charm. This is not a pub with rooms, but a proper hotel with good quality furniture and fittings in the en-suite bedrooms, a very pleasant restaurant with superb food, a well styled and comfortable lounge next to a discreet bar, open to non-residents. We stayed for two nights and we loved it. On arrival we parked in the private car park at the rear, left the luggage in the car and walked round the front to register. Registration was straightforward. Staff were courteous and helpful and we were shown to our well appointed room on second floor. As this is an old building, there is no lift and this was our only minor gripe as we had to carry our luggage from the car-park up several flights of stairs to our room. I believe that disabled guests can be accommodated on the ground floor so its not a problem. We used the hotel as our base for the weekend and had a wonderful time visiting the area. Would use this hotel again and have already recommended it to our friends.

Room Tip: Not all rooms have en-suite baths, some have showers only.

Stayed for one night. Room was well decorated with good sized bathroom. Staff helpful and friendly and food of a good standard, breakfast very good and a great start to the day. Decor throughout hotel was good. Real ale (Merlin) on draught, good ale but I thought a bit expensive (£3.50 a pint) Pub down the road ( forget the name) had a choice of 3 ales for about £3 a pint. Only down side and a minor one is the carpark is a bit limited. Would stay here again

We stopped over in Moffat on our way south and decided to eat that evening in the Annandale (we had booked a local B&B, not knowing where we might eat when we set off). We chose right. The food was cooked fresh and presented professionally. We had popped in for coffee in the afternoon and noted how everywhere was pristine so thought we would give it a try. We are now intending on our next trip to stay here for maybe a couple of nights based on this experience.

We stayed here for one night en route for elsewhere in Scotland. Weather cold but welcome at the hotel was very nice. The decor/finish nad cleanliness etc is to a high and comfortable standard. Staff are pleasant. Room was lovely and had everything one might need. One note here, we were on the top floor along loads of corridors - fouind this a bit tricky to negotaite with luggage. The place was calm.
Food was wonderful. Again, staff lovely, helful and friendly.
In general, we had a comfortable stay and were well fed - good choice on ther menu at evening meal and at breakfast. Nicely presented, properly cooked and good protions.
The hotel has a lovely cosy Scottish feel whihc was good for a first night "over the border" - got us into the holiday mood. Thank you to all concerned.

Room Tip: If you have issues with stairs, you need to make sure your room is not on the top floor. Don't t...

I stopped for the night here on the way from my home in Worcestershire to visit my daughter in Kintyre, Argyll. The room was comfortable and well-equipped, the reception friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant, for both dinner and breakfast, excellent. Parking and Wifi reception were fine. The only negative (and my only reason for not giving 5 stars) was lack of a lift - no problem for me (my room was on the second floor) but could be for others.

Room Tip: Check which floor you are on if stairs are a concern.
