“We all love something for nothing!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

This great old building from 1629 has been lovingly restored and is now an arts centre, which includes an audio-visual about the area's artists, galleries, a small cafe and a gift shop. It's located in a very interesting corner of the town. And it's free to get into!

Really nice place to visit with an different exhibition every few weeks. The building is attractive and the café worth a visit too.

“Well worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

This was a venue for a recent Art Trail Weekend and we visited this beautifully renovated old building for its art exhibition. It was a worthy backdrop for the paintings and craftwork on display. There is art on both floors and there is even a lift if you don't fancy the open tread spiral staircase. Although we didn't have time to stay for a coffee there was a welcoming looking small tea/coffee room at the centre with homemade goodies.

“Art in a tower”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

There is nearly always an art exhibition on the upper floor which is worth visiting. There is a lift, but if you can manage the twisting stone stairs you'll see bits of the past life of the Tolbooth on display. The cafe has good cakes and there is a good selection of books on the area.
