There are a range of differing exhibitions at different times of the year, so worth more than one visit. I have visited the cafe on a few occassions and only once found a seat. This is not because it is very busy, but because several of the chairs are used to display leaflets rather than seat people. The layout also means that one person will 'use' 4 seats by sitting having a coffee. So unless you want to share the table with a stranger, you may choose to go elsewhere.
The building has changed significantly since it featured in the Wickerman film. It was also used in a small budget film filmed about 5-6 years ago as well. I cant recall its name. The building is great. Lovely. Stories that this place could close down saddened me. It would be a great loss if it did.
