“Great short break and fishing tuition”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

Just back from a short break that included fishing tuition from Sue. Great room and food - loved the fresh eggs and home made bread. Also did two half days fishing tuition which was a superb introduction to the sport for my self and son. We will be coming back!

I can't say enough about our stay. My daughter made a valiant attempt to consume every strawberry available from the garden, but couldn't keep up with production. Had dinner one night and again a very high standard maintained, breakfast was varied and cooked to order. Rooms were large, comfortable and every effort was made to make us feel welcome. I had booked as part of a couple of days of casting tuition and again no disapointments. Instruction was clear concise and to the point. I learned a few tricks to help with casting problems that I can use to identify and correct any problems that may develop in the future. I would recommend to anyone as the top end of the B&B experience.

Room Tip: I don't think they have a bad room.

The room we had was large and lovely with a big window view to the garden. Breakfast was a delight, especially the fresh caught and home-smoked trout and free range eggs. We had an excellent vegetarian meal on arrival.
A king size bed, wonderful cotton sheets and pillowcases, and giant towels in the bathroom. Sue and Simon were attentive without being overpowering and I really enjoyed our conversations with them.

My son and I spent 4 days learning to fly fish with Sue and stayed in the Superking bedroom at LInthorpe. The tuition and the accommodation were excellent, the breakfast superb and the hospitality second to none. Highly recommended

I stayed ay LInthorpe for Casting Tuiton. The B&B facilities were first class and very homely by comparison to many modern plastic hotels. Sue and Simon were kind hosts and their culinary abilities meant there was no desire to go anywhere else to eat.
Twynholm is a quiet village, so if peace and time to reflect is your bag, this is where to come.
As far as casting tuiton goes, you will not find anyone better than Sue, who not only is a pleasure to watch casting, but has a great ability to teach, with enormous patience, and makes it fun.
Whether you are a beginner or someone in need of a refresher, this is the place to come.

We stayed a couple of nights at Linthorpe in September 2012. We received a warm welcome and were accomodated in a very spacious warm and comfortable room with easy chairs and a splendid kingsize bed. The ensuite bathroom was also excellent. Sue our hostess had thought of everything to make people feel at home.
The breakfast was perfectly cooked and copious with home made jams and marmalade and in the evening when we returned to our room there were biscuits or chocolate truffles she had made waiting for us..
One advantage of being a little in the country was that the house and area were quiet and we slept well as a consequence
Altogether a very happy experience.

Linthrope B&B in Twynholm, near Kirkcudbright, may be a little out of the way, but it's worth the effort to find (website gives good directions). Sue is an excellent host, as well as a renown fishing instructor. The room we had was large and lovely with a big window view to the yard and hills. Breakfast was a delight, especially the fresh caught and home-smoked trout. Be sure to ask if the fish is available. The artist town of Kirkcudbright is only five minutes away by car, but it was nice to have a very quiet evening in the country.
