“Some of these reviews must be about some other place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

I can not for the life of me believe that Emma and Robertson would give anyone a smelly room, avoid making small talk and give a distressed damsel's room away because she was five minutes late.

The Ferintosh is a very inviting place, partly due to the cozy rooms, but mostly because of the owners' service-mindedness and genuine desire to make you happy. This ability to knit bonds on a personal level while running a healthy business is something I have found lacking in many other establishments I have visited.

The rooms aren't exactly big, but spacious enough to accomodate two people. The beds are very comfy and have lots of pillows, if that's your thing. The decor is very Scottish and you'll find plenty of Robert Burns artifacts here and there. This may be kitchy for some – but hey, I'm a tourist and I've been treated worse by room decor. Actually, I found most of the stuff interesting.

Location-wise, Lover's Walk is great. The train station is very close, and it's a short walk to find pubs and shops.

Lovely Scottish breakfast. Had my first Haggis here, and it remains one of the best.

tl;dr great place, will stay there next time I visit Dumfries

We had a nice breakfast. The rooms are cosy. And the hosts are the very best, hospitable and warm. They gave us a warm welcome and a wonderful stay. They told us so much about Dumfries and the area. :-)

My room was charming and cozy, we loved chatting with Robertson and Emma about the local area, and received some great tips on where to visit. They also had a good knowledge about Scotch, which I appreciated immensely. I would recommend a stay here to any of my friends.

Delightful stay yet again, Robertson and Emma always strive to please. Breakfast using locally sourced produce was fantastic and not prepared until you are ready to eat it, ensuring that it's uber fresh!
The house was lovely and peaceful and the other guests were friendly during breakfast which was the only time we saw anyone else!

After a long journey, it was so wonderful to have a proper Scottish welcome when we arrived! A wee dram and chocolates! Robertson showed us to our room, which was fabulous and gave us time to chill, before giving us a map of the area and pointed out several sites of historical interest, which we visited during our stay. Robertson has a stunning collection of local history books, so you would never be at a loss as to where to visit next.

Our room was very pleasant and most comfortable, and following a marvellous meal in the town, at a smashing restaurant recommended by Robertson, we returned to our room and filled in our breakfast order from the menu.
We weren't quite sure what to expect, but the breakfast was magnificent - everything is locally sourced and tasted just divine.

We love Ferintosh because of it's close proximity to all the town's amenities and would never dream of staying anywhere else in Dumfries. And neither should you!

I stayed at Ferintosh Guesthouse again at the end of March. Robertson and Emma were excellent hosts as always, The cooked breakfast is top notch and the rooms are nice clean and tidy.there are fantastic transport links being just across the road from the train station and it's only a two minute walk into the Center of town.

Robertson was very friendly and helpful.
Also had a lovely supper at the cavens pub that Robertson recommended.
