My whole family stayed at Whitecroft for five weeks when we were between houses. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left , we were made to feel welcome and the service thoughout our stay was always excellent. The owners (Steven and Diane) made sure that we had everything we needed at all times and nothing was too much trouble. Having regularly stayed in Five Star hotels all over the world on business over the years, we preferred Whitecroft.

The rooms were great. Every one is different and they are all finished to a high standard including the en-suites. The rooms are not only different from eachother, but some are quite unusual and this all adds to the "Whitecroft Experience". I especially liked having a proper coffee machine in my room.

The cleaning staff were also great - always cheerful and polite and they kept everything spotlessly clean. Even their laundry service was excellent and very quick. The log fires throughout the house added to the overall ambience.

The hotel even provided a professional car valet service! This was very reasonably priced for hotel guests, so we had all our cars done on several occasions during our stay, which was very convenient.

The restaurant is not what you'd expect to find when you enter the hotel. It's like stepping back in time into a medieval castle! There's a suit of armour in the corner and lots of weapons bolted to the walls. It would be great for private parties etc. The food was always prepared to a high standard and we could order tea, coffee or drinks in the drawing room at any time of the day.

Steven and Diane made our stay very enjoyable, stress-free and they dealt with our every request professionally and always with a smile. For my family, staying at Whitecroft was like visiting friends in their mansion and having servants quietly running around in the background catering for our every whim! It was great fun and we didn't want to leave.

We arrived at Whitecroft late at night, which was a little hard to find as the signs are not lit, but once we found the turning down a long drive we discovered a gem waiting to be discovered. We entered the door to be greeted by a friendly warm smile and a log fire which after a long drive was well recieved. We were taken to our room which was immaculate and not what we expected in such a large old house and then we were asked if we would like dinner, considering it was after 21.30pm we certainly did not expect to get any food. The dinner was superb and cooked fresh.

The standard of this hotel was exceptional and everything was absolutely spotless. After a good nights sleep we had a cooked Scottish breakfast which certainly set us up for any day.

However, all that aside the service of the staff was second to none, far better than you would experience in bigger hotel chains a credit to Dianne.

Cannot wait to return. Thanks Dianne.

I have spent a lot of time at Whitecroft Mansion and on all occasions I have been treated like part of the family. Stephen and Diane go out of their way to make your stay memorable, and one of the most relaxing times you have ever had. The rooms are all different, but the one rthing they have in common is they are clean, comfortable and the beds are big. Set in it's own grounds this hotel is close to the A75, yet far enough away not to be disturbed by traffic noise. The food is excellent, it is well prepared, well presented and served proffesionally . I would say that all the staff including the cleaning staff are very friendly, polite and informative.
If you want to indulge in any activities during your stay, Diane will book this for you, including the excellent in-house beauty treatments, (these go down well with the women).
You will not go away unhappy.
