We had the top floor apartments (pictured) which gave us splendid views of the hills around. The apartment was extremely clean and well appointed - great attention in the kitchen which is always nice. We only needed a few nights so the very kind owners gave us a pro-rata rate as the apartment was empty that week. We were told up front that there's no TV reception but there's free wi-fi and a free DVD library (200 titles). The 62 steps up to the top are a bit puffy if you're over 50 but fun as well. Not much in Selkirk (I thought) but try the special Selkirk Bannock - a massive currant bun. The fish and chip shop was good and sells just about any fast food you can thing of - try the Haggis Supper - it's obligatory and worth it. We ate at the Taste of Spice Indian restaurant which was delicious but expensive. We went up for the Edinburgh Festival and thought we'd be closer (1 1/2 hours away) but varying our drives through the hills made it very pleasant. High;y recommended.
