“5 stars are not enough!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

The other reviewers say it all about the sheer quality of the accommodation and food. But for us, staying just one night to attend a wedding in Peebles, it was the attention to even the smallest detail that makes Kingsmuir so special. From being welcomed at the door, to reluctantly leaving next day, we enjoyed every minute. This is a beautiful part of Scotland, well worth exploring. We will definitely be back for a longer stay. But be prepared, Malcolm, we may well resort to dog snatching next time and take Morag home with us!

Room Tip: If they have a room, take it! They are both fabulous!

My wife and I stayed for 5 nights at Kingsmuir House in early August.
This was our second stay and we knew we were guaranteed an enjoyable and comfortable few days holiday break.
The spacious bedroom has an inviting very large bed, with ensuite bathroom, shower and toilet, tiled with under floor heating.
We love the tasteful decor and furnishings and ample storage space and can relax in the large lounge and make use of the television, DVD player, Wi-Fi internet, read the country magazines or use the chessboard for a game of chess.
There are many extra touches at Kingsmuir 5 star B&B which make the holiday feel very special.
The presence of a beautiful vase of flowers and a bowl of fresh fruit. And each day a supply of milk, iced water, home-made truffles and shortbread wrapped and tied with tartan ribbons.
Guests here are also spoilt with the superb choices of the breakfast menu and the occasional delicious evening meal if required.
The location of house is a bonus as it is ideal for walking to Peebles town centre via the park and across the metal bridge over the River Tweed. The entrance to the park is just a short distance away across the road from the Kingsmuir House entrance.
There is also ample parking and turning space in the front courtyard of Kingsmuir B&B.
This is an excellent place to get away for a relaxing break.

We have just stayed for three nights at Kingsmuir House B&B, but its not just a B&B it is more like a home from home. We stayed in The Bonnington Suite, it had three rooms, a lounge, bedroom and large bathroom, it's even got a champane bucket at the side of the bath, bring a bottle, also flowers and fresh milk, the attention to detail in our rooms was superb with the homemade biscuits and chocotates a nice touch and great to eat. Must mention the bed, it was huge and could sleep four people, we may bring friends next time. On two night stay we had our evening meal in the dining room as we found the meals and service better then most resturants we have eaten in.
Malcolm and Karen Thank you again for letting us share your home.

This was our second stay at Kingsmuir and it was just as enjoyable as the first one. We live in Edinburgh and Peebles is far enough away to feel as if we're getting a break but close enough that we don't have to travel far! We've now stayed in both suites and can thoroughly recommend both of them. The B&B is very comfortable and the rooms are beautifully decorated and appointed with little extra touches such as lovely homemade shortbread and truffles. You would struggle to find a hotel that is of a comparable standard. Malcolm is very welcoming and prepares a wonderful breakfast. I'm sure we'll be back again!

We stayed a whole week at Kingsmuir and had a most wonderfull time! The marvellous decoration of the rooms and the outstanding service up to the smallest details (fresh flowers in the room, coffee, tea, shortbread, fresh fruits and even Scottish chocolates every day!!!) got us in the right mood from the first second we arrived... In Malcolm and his family, you find the perfect host!!
Kingsmuir House bares the right name: you really get treated as kings during your stay!
Unfortunately Visit Scotland rates only up to 5 stars: Malcom deserves at least 6 or even more!!!

I booked Kingsmuir after a recommendation from my friends who live just round the corner. It seemed rude not to stay with them but after they described it and I saw the website decided it had to be worth a little awkwardness.

We were not disappointed. Malcolm was the perfect host from start to finish and in my case long before we even arrived. My trip was a surprise birthday present for my husband and Malcolm helped to ensure everything remained a surprise and worked brilliantly on the night.

I have stayed in a few 5* hotels over the years and can honestly say this is one of the best and yet is classed as a B&B. The attention to detail is incredible as were the homemade shortbread and truffles - HOMEMADE!

I could rave for hours but really if you get the chance to stay make sure you do.

Malcolm - we will be back, can't guarantee such a glamorous car next time though

Malcolm and family go out of their way to make you feel at home in their home. The whole visit was outstanding. The attention to detail (flowers, chocolates, fresh milk... The list is never ending) is fantastic. The location is quiet, the beds are really comfortable, the breakfasts are great. We particularly liked the history to the house and the photographs. Malcolm is really helpful and makes good recommendations. Next time we need to take our boots to go for some of those walks.
The pinnacle of the visit has to be meeting Morag. If you you don't know who Morag is, then I recommend you visit!

Room Tip: You don't have to worry, both are outstanding!
