“Wonderful, welcoming and cosy.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013 for a stay in October 2013

A delightful find in the bonnie Border town of Peebles. If you wish to relax and chill, this is he place. Everything you could wish for. With a warm welcome from Ruth and Rodger, we immediately felt at home. Can't recommend this retreat highly enough.

“The idyllic home away from home in a lovely setting within a charming and most interesting historic town.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

On arrival we were greeted most warmly by the owner, Ruth, who made it abundantly clear that nothing would be too much trouble to her in ensuring that our stay was to be enjoyable. We loved The Bothy immediately, being so beautifully, comfortably and tastefully equiped, we were very much at home from the start. The provision of ingredients for making a hot drink and a very tasty carrot cake were both most welcome after a fairly long drive. This is to us a very thoughtful gesture and a sure sign of a most hospitable host. The views from the lounge/dining area were delightful and we regret that time did not allow us to enjoy the adjacent hill walk. We found Peebles itself to be a really lovely and quaint historic town certainly worth exploring and a good place to start is the museum which, although very small, contains many items of information thereby opening up the town. In a nutshell, we loved every aspect of our week at The Bothy, absolutely wonderful and so perfect for the two of us.

“Amazing retreat in beautiful setting, very comfortable and well equipped.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2013 for a stay in July 2013

This is a perfect place to stay. It is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need in a self catering accommodation. Beautifully decorated with very comfortable furnishings.. With some lovely thoughtful touches like Milk and Cake waiting on arrival. The kitchen has all the things like olive oil, tea bags, seasonings etc.
I think it is one of the best self catering accommodations we have ever stayed in and would recommend it to anyone. Located approx 1 mile outside the town right on the edge of the John Bucan Way.

“Home comfort in a great location for walks in town and country”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

This is a sweet little apartment with all the amenities and in a lovely setting. The cows used to come to the window to say hello every morning! It is also within walking distance of the delightful town of Peebles with its great selection of shops, restaurants and pubs. The only down side was having neighbours clomping about above but luckily they only stayed a couple of nights.

Management Response
Jul 21, 2013
Thank you for your positive comments. The noise was due a visitor in the neighbouring property convalescing from a foot operation and she was in a heavy boot plaster with crutches. I did not think about the potential noise this would have caused, I hope you understand and accept my apologies. Ruth

“Fantastic...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

What a fantastic place to stay - this was our first time in Peebles and we were genuinely really happy with the Bothy. It looked like it did in the pictures, was spotlessly clean, well equipped and bigger than expected. There were nice little touches too; a carton of milk in the fridge and a pack of cookies on the side, for that all important cup of tea upon arrival.

On top of this, there is bike storage complete with work stand, bucket and hose for cleaning muddy bikes. The owners are really friendly and are happy to offer advice regarding walking, cycling etc.

Peebles is only a short walk from the Bothy which was great for going out or just popping down to the shops to pick up a bite to eat. The Bothy is also in a great location for being able to walk from the front door; the hills behind provide some lovely views. I also loved being close to Glentress and made the most of it for cycling. It is also a good base for day trips to Edinburgh, Traquair House etc.

Overall, I can't say enough good things about the Bothy, the location or the wider area. We both fell in love with Peebles and intend to visit again next year (as an avid mountain biker, being close to Glentress and Innerleithen is an added bonus).

“A superb place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013 for a stay in March 2013

You could almost run out of superlatives on this one. A beautiful location with walking straight out of the day, so very clean and everything you could wish for. Lovely people too. Highly recommended! We will be back.
