“You can bank on The Bank!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2008

When we first looked at The Bank's website, we thought that it would be either 1) too expensive for us or 2) too good to be true. Neither applied! We stayed for a 3-night long-awaited weekend break with some good friends and things just could not have been better from start to finish; apart from the inevitable speed at which the time passed.

We followed Donna's directions and found the Private Car Park with ease where we were greeted by our very friendly and amiable Hostess who made fresh coffee and made us feel right at home. Donna told us the history of the building and, more importantly, all the very best local spots to visit for the activities we had planned (mainly eating and drinking!), and there was no shortage of either both on and off the premises! (You MUST try the burgers at The Tower cafe/bar 2 doors down! Immense and real chips too! - You'll never eat another BigMac again!)

The old RBS building has been lovingly restored and it is immediately obvious that Donna & Billy have excellent taste and have not cut corners in blending the old architecture with modern decor and high quality furnishings. The over all impression in reality is exactly as it appears on the website, which is very rare in our experience.

We have stayed in many similar establishments in the North of England and Scotland and we can safely say that this has been the best so far!

If you're looking for luxury, freedom and a warm welcome (not to mention a fantastic breakfast!) you really can bank on The Bank! We invested and Donna certainly paid the dividends! ~ If you read this review Donna, we want royalties if this slogan appears in your advertising! Ha, ha! :o)

Thanks Donna! Highly recommended! We will be back!

*****
Fantastic accommodation, friendly atmosphere and really friendly couple have made a marvlous job of the decor. Its modern spotlessly clean and has all the extras of a five star hotel without the pool. Breaskfast was fantasic just right if you had a good night out.

Only one problem was there was no signage on the front of the building and we found it difficult to access it. But I am sure Donna the host will put this right. Would diffently go back and have recommended it highly to others well priced and well situated in Hawick.

A stay at the Bank Guest House is such a delightful experience and I can't recommend it enough. It's a real gem and deserves to be the best place to stay in Hawick.
The moment you arrive you receive a very warm welcome from Donna & Billy - who are the most friendliest hosts I've ever met and make you feel at home straight away. We were staying in Hawick for a friend's party and Donna offered to drive us to the venue & Billy very kindly arranged a local taxi driver to pick us up later. We were really touched by that!

The bedroom we had was so comfortable, and well equipped - better than most hotels I've stayed in! All spotlessly clean and well furninshed. We had a spacious bathroom too including fluffy bathrobes - not usual for a guest house - but then this is a step above most guest houses & more like a boutique hotel.
The house itself is just lovely - all high ceilings and lots of space very tastefully decorated and furnished by Donna & Billy.

Donna cooked us a great breakfast the next morning (at a time that suited us!) we were sorry we weren't staying for longer.

Some of our friends stayed elsewhere in & around Hawick and when we shared our experiences I have to say that they were very jealous when I told them about Bank House.
We should be up in Hawick for another party later this year & we will be staying here again without a doubt.

Excellent directions; warm and friendly welcome from Donna; first class accommodation and breakfast; and Donna booked us into a great restaurant for our evening meal.

We were just travelling through on charity bike ride from North to South and booked the Bank Guest House on spec from the internet – but what a find.
Donna was an absolute star and helpful in every way. Very accomodating of all our cycling gear, and we'll be forever grateful just for getting our cycling clothing dry.
Describing this establishment as a guest house just doesn't really cut it. The rooms are specious, extemely well equiped and very stylishly put together. I think I remember saying to Donna as she showed me round, "This is like being at home, but bigger and better".
I spend a lot of time in hotels with my work; Marriotts, Ramada Plazas and the like. This is far better accomodation for a fraction of the price.

My wife and I were made most welcome, the room and en suite facilities were above expectation. The breakfast was cooked to order.
The owner, Donna, had tea and cakes on offer any time we popped back to the Bank Guest House. A five star experience - in fact we were so pleased we left a box of chocolates as a thank you.

We booked into The Bank for the "Common Riding" which is a traditional Hawick knees up definitely worth a visit to just because otherwise you couldnt possibly imagine how much fun it is!
We found The Bank was amazing... The welcome by Donna and Billy was great and when we were shown to our room to say we were impressed would be an understatement. A huge sleigh bed, comfortable sofa, huge TV, fluffy dressing gowns and snacks and wine greeted us. To describe The Bank as a B&B would not do the place justice at all!
The bathroom was lovely with all the touches you would expect from a first class hotel and the breakfast was great, just what we needed before a day up on the moor.
We were woken by the fifes and drums parading up the high street rousing the town for a day of frivolities and fun! It was a great way to start the day following a fantastic stay at The Bank.
Many Thanks for a fabulous time... Same time next year???
