“Excellent, friendly, best hotel ever!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012 via mobile

This is my all time favourite hotel, and we have stayed in a few!! The staff are friendly, pleasant and can't do enough for you.
We had stayed here the year before this trip for my birthday, we had breakfast delivered in bed (a birthday treat from my partner and a surprise) it was so tasty, warm and on time (or so I'm told as it was a surprise!) you have to try the Scottish breakfast...it's the best! In the dining room is a full spread of juice, fruit and cereal, they really go all out to look after you.

This year we rang to book again, they remembered us from the year before, we offered our credit card details and they said its ok we'll take them when you get here.....trust!! So laid back but yet still so efficient. We arrived and were allocated the same room as the year before, another member of staff showed us to our room and said its the same room you were in last year, this to me showed an interest in their customers and friendly too.

The room (15) overlooks the conservatory, has great views of the gardens. It has a bath, the room is comfortable, it was warm and cosy and we really do relax there. I can't speak highly enough of this place and am seriously considering it for my own wedding venue!!!!

One thing is certain, we will go back again I love this place....thank you to all at Kingknowes for the welcome, the service and the genuine friendly feel to the place.

My family and i recently went for lunch to The Kingsknowes Hotel and we really enjoyed it. We were put off going for a while as we had our Christmas dinner there and all left very dissapointed! But after returning for a bite to eat at lunch time we really enjoyed it. Was a lovely sunny day and we decided to finish our bottle of wine in the gardens outside. Staff seemed friendly & food was lovely.

As a background, we've stayed in many, many hotels - some good, some not. We've become very savvy about what to expect. And what not to. The Kingsknowes Hotel is everything you want from a hotel. The staff are friendly and (wait for it) thoughtful! For example, they'd already put the baby seat next to our breakfast table, along with a toddler's cutlery set before we'd come down from our room in the mornings. We brought our toddler's plate with us and they even offered to wash it for us after breakfast.

The room was perfect and a cot was put in our room, even though we hadn't ordered one before we arrived. Each time we arrived back, we received a friendly hotel.

We had room service one evening and the food was on time and hot (goes without saying the food was superb).

We would recommend this hotel to anybody. The examples we've given above are just one or two of many that make this hotel fantastic!

I have just returned from a 2 night stay at the Kingsnowes Hotel with my husband.
We've actually been to the hotel ten or twelve times over the last 12 - 13 years, which should tell you at least a little about what we think about the place.
If you want sleek modern furinture with stark bold colours, avoid the Kingsknowes at all costs.
If you want to stay in what was once a traditional scottish baronial family home that has a character befitting such a place, then look no further.
We always book the Scots Room (room 18) - or if that's not available, room 16 which also overlooks the gardens.
The rooms are very traditional with high corniced ceilings, chandeliers, heavy draped curtains amd large imposing fireplaces. Beds are comfortable and large and the bathroom in the Scots room is large with a bath, loo, bidet and sep double shower cubicle with overhead and side jets. The Scots room also has a spacious twin bedded room between the main bedroom and bathroom.
We ate in the bar/restaurant on both nights and the food was tasty, freshly made and very enjoyable, though we both commented that the menu didn't have as much variety as it once did. On both nights we were advised to book a table - glad we did, as it was quite full on the Saturday and Sunday, some were guests of the hotel but there were quite a lot of locals there too (which I always think is a good sign).
All in all we had a lovely relaxing break and will no doubt continue going back there for the forseeable future.

Room Tip: Scot Room (Room 18)

This is a lovely, very imposing building which serves excellent food at affordable prices. The staff are friendly and efficient and the food is beautifully cooked. A very good choice on the menu and this was served within an acceptable time from sitting down. We did not stay overnight as this was a day visit but have seen the rooms which are lovely. It also has a conservatory which is great for wedding ceremonies and the grounds are ideal for wedding photos.

The Kingsknowes Hotel is a lovely place to stay. Our room was extremely comfortable and the staff were polite and helpful. We dined in the hotel bar and the food was lovely . We would recommend the Kingsknowes Hotel to anyone visiting the area and hope to return a visit again.

We were a party of 17 cycling from Edinburgh to Newcastle for charity and stayed here on our first night in 7 of their rooms on a Dinner, Bed and Breakfast basis. I can honestly say we were looked after fantastically from the minute we arrived to when we left and although i did not see all of the rooms we booked the standard of the one i personally stayed in was first class and nobody else in the party had anything but positives to report. The evening meal and breakfast were first rate and as good as any i have had in any hotel. I would definitely visit again and would highly recommend this hotel, as the title says we were treat like kings and had a great time.
